View Full Version : At least I know it can stand up to a Semi-truck!

My poor Coug... :(

I was rear-ended by a semi-truck on the Interstate last weekend. He hit the back passenger-side corner. I did a 180 across 2 lanes of traffic and spun even more into the ditch.

Luckily, this was before the bridge coming up - so I didn't slam into anything on the side of the road! Also, no other cars slammed into me during my spinning "fun"!

I was very lucky! Everyone that stopped and the highway patrolman were surprised my car didn't roll. The damage was limited given the circumstances. I need a new taillight and painted cover, back bumper needs to be refinished and painted, my Wings West back needs the same, I had to get 2 new front tires because the spinning put some bad bald spots on both of them, AND my Borla dual exhaust was bent (the right tip was over in the middle of the car). BUT, there was no metal damaged, thankfully!

Anyway, I'm so happy the Coug stood up to the semi as well as it did! Be careful everyone.

Also, if anyone has a taillight or black painted taillight cover, let me know please!! Thanks!

holy ****! I'm glad you are alright Melissa!

I don't hear too many stories about people getting hit by Semi's and walking away, let alone with the car in one piece!

Good to hear you're OK. I had one take a corner too tight back in December and he practically rolled over my front end. Ended up just raking my driver side and pulling me back a few feet.

They sure look big up close don't they?

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, the semi driver didn't even attempt to stop, even after hitting me. He just kept driving for a mile or so, then pulled over. But, he never came back to check on me. Luckily, a really nice guy in a Mustang stopped - he had just left a car show and he recognized me from a show we'd both been at previously.

It's killing me to drive around with a ghetto-fabulous taillight though. The red tape is beyond trashy... haha!

Sorry to hear that Mel and glad to hear you are OK.

On another note did you happen to be at the Royals vs Cardinals game in KC today? They did a camera shot of a bunch of Cardinal fans outside of the stadium....it was a quick shot, but one of them in front looked like you:shrug:

Well he did stop, but not for a mile or 2. He never did come back to check on me, even after he stopped. Total ass.

No, it wasn't me. I was supposed to go to the game, but couldn't make it. It would have been great to be there!! :)

Wow. Sucks to hear, but it sounds like it turned out about as good as getting rear ended by a semi could.
