View Full Version : CougarFest Caravan - Friday, July 11th
As it stands right now, this 'caravan' consists only of Mark and myself, but i'm hoping that Kyle will be joining us as well.
If anyone else is planning on going down to Indy just for the weekend, our tentative plan is to meet up... somewhere... at around 3am friday morning. Yeah, I said 3am. We wanna be across the border before 8am and hopefully in Indy by 12pm at the latest.
We wanna make the most of our short time there. ;)
Anyway, I know it's a longshot, but if anyone else would like to head down with us, this is the place to let it be known.

As it stands, the caravan will be 2 Cougars... hopefully 3. Pretty sh*tty caravan, I know. But at least we'll be able to have fun... two 3Ls driving in the middle of the night... there's no way that can be a bad thing.
According to Google, it looks like we'll be crossing at Sarnia and taking I-69 most of the way. Sorry. :(

I think there is still ongoing construction on I-69 once you get close to Lansing, MI.
Just a heads up!

I guess we'll have to deal with some traffic. :(

i drove through that on my way to chicago, its not bad that early in themorning, i leave at 4am and theres never anyone there its just a 60 zone for 20ish km's.
you should hit the border before 8am though, when i drive i hit it around 7am (iirc) google maps says 830 hours, for either trip but it only really takes 7- 71/2 with a stop at the border for beer and 1 gas stop

If we leave at 3am, we should hit Sarnia well before 8am... it should be closer to 7am, if not earlier. From there, we have about 600km to cover. I'm pretty confident we can make it for around noon.

Seriously, if you do leave the GTA at 3am there is no reason immaginable why you won't be at the Sarnia border crossing by no later than 6:30am. (that's including about a 30 minute 'running late' or breakfast stop. Port HUron is only 45-55 minutes from London, of you average 120kmph you'll hit London in about 1hr 45min, then 45 min to Sarnia puts you at 2.5 hours from the time you leave. Going the speed limit you'll hit Sarnia in 3 hours.

You Suck!
Alright... since we only have a couple more days to go, we should probably decide where we're going to meet on Friday morning.
I'll be coming down the 427 to hit the 401. I'm guessing you'll be coming down the 404...?
Should we just meet around Dixie/401? If we get off at Dixie, we can meet up at Dixie Ford. Then we can just hop back on the 401 and head West.
What do you think? Will you make it there by 3am?

Well I'm going to bed at 6pm so let me know early.
I'm contemplating if I should take out my sub box for the drive. It weighs a ton and takes up a lot of space.

I'd take it out. It'll save space and should help a little with gas mileage.
Getting rid of 200lbs can't hurt!

Fine by me. Hopefully you like my music choices. My iPod is loaded up and ready to go! If you wanna listen to anything else, bring whatever you'd like. It's gonna be a long drive, so you're welcome to bring along whatever you want to make it more comfortable.
I'm gonna stop on my way home and get some Frank's Energy drink, probably some pop and some water. It'll be good to have for the drive, that way we won't have to stop every hour. We can stop for beer at Duty Free. ;)
I'm starting to get anxious now. My day is dragging and i'm stuck here another 5 hours. :(

2.5 for me :)
what ever you listen too is fine with me, as long as i don't hear any backstreet boys, n'sync, or britney spears.....at that point i willhave tio change my entire view on your manhood.
beer at the duty free sounds good to me, but i don't think they are open that early on the way there.

We're definitely gonna need to stock up on beer now... especially with 4 of us drinking instead of 2.
I just hope the selection doesn't suck. I'm not expecting premium beer, but I don't want Coors Light or Molson Canadian either... Keith's would be good... and maybe some Sleeman.

they have a good selection going into the states, coming back is very limited. I can not recall if there is sleemans or not though.

I don't think they sell alcohol at those hours. The Duty free might be open but they don't sell alcohol between certain hours. We can try.
Mike do you want me to bring a chair for you or do you have one?

D'oh! That's right! :banghead:
I guess we can buy some along the way...
Maya sent me a text and said she grabbed one for me. I should be good. Thanks!
One last thing...
For the love of GOD... everyone remember to grab your ID...!!!
I don't wanna hit the border in Sarnia and have to turn around because one of us forgot our ID at home.
Passport OR driver's license & birth certificate.
