So me and a couple of people from work were headed to the driving range during out lunch hour to smack a few balls. We took my goat and my co-workers STI. We have been itching to race each other and we were headed the same place, so we figured it would be as good of a time as any to do a short run. Normally I would not have started the race where we did because a cop tends to sit in the parking lot about a 1/4 mile up the road, but I had just driven by there about 10 minutes ago and it was all clear. So, we both made a left out of our office onto the 4 lane road with a 5th center turning lane. I was behind him to start so he kept light on the throttle, and I was pretty mild on the throttle too while I was making the left turn so the car would stay straight. I ended up taking the far lane and as soon as we both hit our perspective lanes we hit it. I was still a little behind from the start, but quickly reeled him in, I almost had enough room to get in front of him, but I had to slow down for the Mini that I was quickly approaching the rear bumper of. While the Mini stopped me from proving my superior performance, it was also my saving grace because I soon as I put on the brakes in plan sight was a cop sitting in the parking lot that was not there 10 minutes before. :banghead: We pass the cop at legal speeds and end up stopped at the traffic light just a short distance ahead with the STI in front of me. The cop ends up pulling beside me leaving a large gap between her and the car in front of her. I was just wait for her to say something to me about racing, but to my shock she just says I need to get in front of you please. I couldn't believe it she only pulled over my co-worker and I got of clean and clear. My co-worker got clocked doing 74mph in a 45, but he didn't care about the ticket because he is in his mid-30's with a clean record, and he knew he was due for a ticket after owning the STI for 2 years and not getting a one yet. The only bad thing is that he doesn't know how much the ticket will be since he has to appear in court because the ticket is over 25mph over the speed limit. Once he finds out how much the ticket is I'm going to pay for half, along with giving him a bumper sticker saying Warning: Vehicle may appear to be faster than it really is!

I'm thinking you got in a wreck or something..

Glad you didn't get in trouble, and now we know why we don't street race. :D lol

Wait... you were street racing and had to slow down because another car was ahead of you? Oh jesus.

... moral of the story. Don't race where there are OTHER cars!

Anyways, your friend is lucky that has a clean record. That's 30 over. In NJ, anything over 20 and you get a Reckless Driving in addition to your ticket. That's a total of 10 points!

He'll probably get off with paying the speeding ticket, about $300 I would bet you. If he does have a RD, that will get thrown out. The points will probably be like 3 or 4. That sucks though.

lucky man they don't tolerate anything in a lot of states. They will arrest you and impound your car here in Az. Lucky lucky.

Same road, but different spot. We moved to a different office space closer to downtown about a month ago. Funny thing is the other girl that I work with who saw me down that powerslide and said she would never ride with me was the one who said we should race today, and guess who was in the car with me today too.

Wait... you were street racing and had to slow down because another car was ahead of you? Oh jesus.

Yes there was one car that we had caught up to, but otherwise it was clear. But yes I know its dangerous, stupid, and whatever. Feel free to flame away. We will keep it on the track from here on out, because I know he wants a rematch. Besides a race from a dig would be much more interesting anyways.
