For example, you are at a meet (car meet) and you start talking to a kid that's 18 and under. What are some things you assume until proven otherwise?

j/k george. I dk. Usually from experience, they are neutral in my mind until I hear them say something thats a blatant lie or definitely not possible. Usually I have found that more with people younger than me but I have caught some older people doing the same to impress.

I don't go strike up conversation with a kid under 18 at a car meet.
I'd look like an old fart trying to act "cool" and "hip".
That is how you young kids talk, right?

I'm actually on the other side of the rope; I'm a wee 19. about half the time I won't feel comfortable chatting with an adult (I'm not sure what the age cutoff is...let's say anyone with a family or a house) just because those presumptions are there. It seems like a barrier to overcome...one that's often not worth my time. You can't help but read a book by its cover, or age in this case. I would do the same. Getting around that "wall" is the interesting part...

I admit though that I want to be considered the "cool" neighbor in my neighborhood.
At Halloween, we give out candy to all kids, and cans of Coke/Pepsi products to the teens (and to the kids whose parents say it's ok).
They appreciate it, and they stay off ma lawn and don't touch my cars. So it's win/win.
Heck, I wouldn't mind inviting them over to play Rock Band with me, but again, I'd be afraid of them thinking I'm trying too hard. (or I'm some kind of creepy pervert)
Honestly, I just want someone to play video games with and I don't gots friends. :flushed:

Nice. I have a friend from college who aspired to be the old man sitting on his porch in boxers and a stained wife-beater yelling at the kids to stay off his damn lawn.
i can pretty much talk to any age group but i think that has been my gift. :)
Even now i have friends from 18 to 40 years old range.

I know I enjoy hanging out with the 18-24 year old crowd much more than my 29 yr old crowd. I think alot is my maturity level is still at 18-21 LOL SO I get along with them really well.

But that's because I don't give a **** what somebody thinks of me. If they like me and want to be my friend, that's cool. If they don't, I don't care.

usually when i go to meets i tell them right away how awesome my cougar is. then i explain all the sweet mods i have done to it and how badly it would kill their car in a race. after that i hit on their girl and tell her that she needs a man more like me. then i might poke jokes about the other peoples cars telling them just how ****ty their car is. Once that is out of the way i may floor it around the parking lot a few times with great care to spin my tires around every turn. then if the other guys have enough balls to hang with me i might take them on a cruise. Everyone knows that the laws of driving do not apply when you are in a group of three cars or more so i will run every yellow light going at least 55 forcing them to keep up with my master pace. once we get back from the cruise i will most likely tell everyone that i am hot and tear off my shirt hulk hogan style. the rest of the meet/night will go as follows

I don't judge based on age. Having said that, I do judge (just a little) based on appearance. Not height or weight or hair color but the way that someone is dressed and how he/she presents him/her self.
I'm 32 and I have friends aging from 21 to 50ish. I'm comfortable hanging out with all ages.
