MY 2000 Cougar Stock Got Beat By a HYandai accent TODAy PLEase tell me how to make my car faster? i have a magnaflow catback on it thats it.

considering the accent has a 1.6L engine you have no reason to lose to him haha, either you dont know how to shift, or if your running an ATX, then you still shoulda been able to beat him, but if ur lookin for some more power start of cheap and start getting more expensive, try putting in a K&N filter, just try the drop in first, and gut your precats, even stock you should have been able to beat him though, check out your spark plugs, if theyre fouled or misfiring get that fixed, put in some new spark plug wires, run seafoam, and if you got more money put in headers, or just put in a 3.0L and turbocharge :biggrin:

Always start with intake, headers, and a cat-back. Is your cat-back a trubendz kit? After you've done the I/H/E I'd do the SVT Lite upgrade.

Don't try to drag race anyone while driving an automatic Cougar - not even a Hyundai.

The only motorsports-related strength of a CD4E-equipped Cougar is autocross - and even that's pushing it. But you could definitely beat that Hyundai on a course with some corners.

Just enjoy the way it looks. Nobody in a Hyundai is ever gonna get any tail.

He probalby has a couple bodies in the back. Hell I beat a Honda Civic who got a head start and I had a guy in the passenger seat who was about 200lbs, and guy in the back who was about 300lbs and 2 15 L7s as well. So if this guy cant by a Accent then there is no saving him.

Sean2124, please read the 2.5L FAQ. There's no reason that a 1.6L should beat a 2.5L, unless you're weighed down by a ridiculous amount of weight, or he was F/I or spraying. Please start a new thread once you've read through the FAQs and give us specifics on what you believe may be wrong with the car (other than it's an Autotragic).
