not 100% sure but i would say no the 01/02 are not rounded so much in the coners as the 99/00 are, or visa versa cant remember

no they do not fit. the opening is bigger in the 01/02 cougars then the 99/00's
most audio places have the proper mounting kit, in my case they had it in the back where their install bay is rather then on the shelf because its not a commonly used piece.

thats not right, the only thing that is different is the the 01-02 have square edges as the 99-00 have rounded edges

The 01-02 Have A Double Din Opening And The 99-00 Have A Din An A Half...it Will Not Work 01-02 Kit Is Bigger

Incorrect. Iceberg is exactly right. The opening on the bezel for the 99/00 has rounded edges making it a smaller opening (din and a half) You can purchase an 01/02 bezel to give you the squared edges avtually opeing up the hole to a double din face.

Perfect.

So, just not to open a new thread:

Where/how can I search for a different mount kit for my reciever? The crappy plastic thing I got from crutchfield pops out every so often and also would be SUPER east to jack from my car. I've looked here in town for something that screws in/bolts down somehow and they've only got that type of mount. Or does a different one even exsist for us? I've been told nope.

i think i have tried kit from Metra and Scosch and they both suck and pops out like you said. i ended up anchoring the kit onto the bezel while i had it out.

Now, i just got it molded it on.

Alrighty. Yeah it's just super annoying to be pressing that thing back in every time I accelerate hard. Also not to comfortable knowing the whole thing could be stolen in literally a matter of seconds. Prolly will end up drilling some holes and bolting it in. /sigh
