Nevermind, I don't want to spoil anyone's chances of winning with the half-priced tickets. I'll wait till full price comes around. Since you have graciously decided to donate 5% back to NECO and I'm an Air Force Brat (Father retired w/27 years in), I'm going to buy 10 full priced tickets and you can give a full 10% to the Air Force Assistance Fund (I reject the 5% donation ONLY if you increase the percentage to the AFAF).

Yes, the ticket process will be in random order. I will have 1100 tickets mixed up, I will then draw tickets and go down the list assigning ticket numbers to individuals. This process will make the drawing a lot more random instead of having 10 or 20 tickets in a row ;)

I don't drive the car much before I started the raffle.

But if there is a show, or something needs to get done (like today) I'm putting on some new vynals to advertise the raffle...

But to answer your question, it will be minimal ;)

EDIT: Also, the vehicle will remain under full coverage with my insurance company until September 1st.

as far as i know you would have to register and insure it before you could drive it unless you have a dealer tag. That would mean having the title signed over and then taking it to your local dmv registering it and insuring it.
Then you could fly out here and drive it home.

OK, I finally assigned ticket numbers to those who have payed with paypal. I will get those out sometime tomorrow or the next day (I have class tomorrow).

As for driving the car back, that's up to the winner. I know you can get a temporary registration through the DMV down here for 3 days and it cost $1. Check with your local DMV ;)

nadthomas
06-17-2008, 07:56 AM
Yeah, you should be able to get a temp tag from the state the car is currently registered in. That's what I did when I bought the silver cougar from PGTATX. Drove out to NJ, bought the car, went to the local DMV, got a temp tag and drove it home. Once you get the vehicle home you can then go through the normal process of registering an out of state vehicle. Of course there is somewhat of a catch because you would have to pick up the car during DMV hours which normally suck.

blustreak

Still completely worth it in my eyes :)

elraido
06-17-2008, 01:10 PM
Depends on some state laws. If the state where it is coming from require the seller to keep the plates, you will need a temp licence...if they stay on the car you normally don't since the registration was paid that specefic vehicle. One thing to look at before you pick up the car is getting a gift affidavite. That way you won't have to pay sales tax on the fair market value. Once again it varies from state to state, but look into it. I know in Mn the affidavite needs to be notarized at each signature and they require the MN form.

nadthomas
06-17-2008, 01:54 PM
Since its a raffle, I'm not sure it technically qualifies as a gift. Tax should not be a big deal, the value of a 200 cougar with 100k miles is not that much, so you would only be looking about a couple hundred in taxes. Its going to cost more in gas for most people to get it home.

Anyways, less talking more buying raffle tickets. It would suck if enough tickets didn't sell.

deliveryguy
06-17-2008, 06:43 PM
I know when I bought my car, I just wrote $50 on the form that determines how much you pay in terms of tax. I'm not sure if this is the same thing - I think that form asked how much you spent as opposed to how much the car is worth. Not positive though.

And I got me 20 of 'em! Can't wait to drive it .

Is it strictly a raffle now or is the car still for sale also? I ask this because I saw an updated ad (6/24/2008 12:47:41 AM) on Modified Car Trader.

Are tickets going to be available at Fest? The wife wants to take our daughter to the Indy zoo so I might be able to do a drive by on the Saturday of Fest if they are.

Well, it is a full blown raffle... however, I've only sold 130 tickets soo far. Sales have all but stopped. At this rate the car will not meet the minimum of 800 tickets. I'd hate to do a refund, but if I have to, I will.

I've also posted this raffle on 7 other forums, craigslist, and made windshield stickers. I also plan on hitting up any car shows around to spread the word ;)
