View Full Version : brake boster hose broke off in intake manifold

so we found the vacuum leak, brake booster hose snapped off the intake. we cant figure out how to remove the broken side from the intake manifold... can anyone give me any pointers as to how to remove it so i can replace it?

there should be a little black plastic outer ring, push that in and pull on the remaining piece of hose with a pair of pliers or vice grips

And don't forget to remove the brake booster hose that's connected to the bottom of the intake manifold.
I broke mine off when I pulled the engine. Did you do the same thing? I did warn you.
I think I just used wire cutters or needle nose pliers to remove the broken ring. Since you're probably going to have to replace the brake booster hose, you can break the ring to get it out. I'll bet that made a decent vacuum leak.:)

yea i guess we broke it when we pulled it, i didnt notice till i was hooking wiring up that there was a line broken and im like hmmmm... so we saw that it was the damn booster hose. oh yea it did, so we put duct tape over it...lol just so i could drive it with MANUAL brakes, oh so fun, but it does drive good, engine is really quiet compared to the old one, seems pretty peppy, so far so good. thanks for letting me know how to get it. ill have to put it back on stands and try it. thanks guys.
