Internal amp

Just checking, best buy has a cool little wire that contains the 4 speaker wires and a remote wire that you just connect behind your dash and run it back to your amp so you don't have to pull new wires. Just making sure i didn't run into any problems with an external amp hiding somewhere like on my premium sound system for my old ZX2.

really you got a link to what you are talking about i was thinking about adding a sub to my factory deck but didnt want to have to splice into anything ......if that is what your talking about

When I had my bass tube installed they just tapped into the rear speaker wire for the signal. Then all you have to do it run power, ground and remote. You might be even able to remote of the speaker wire. I don't see why not.

You are referring to a "line-out converter". You can hook it up to your rear speaker wires and then hook up a set of RCA's for your subs to the loc. Some seem to have better sound quality than others but none are as good as running a new HU and full length RCA's IMO.

yeah i've seen those, i just thought he found something that just plugged into the back of his factory deck that that gave him instant preouts, but i guess im just gonna have to waste some money on a new HU so i can get a lil bit of bass

Some stock radios do have this; for example many GM radios made over the last five years or so can do this, using an adapter that plugs into the harness behind the radio. I don't think any of the stock radios in the Cougars had that ability, though.

That is used for doing 4 channel amp installs or extending wires to do a factory amp bypass...

Your not going to get away with that unless you have an aftermarket deck or a factory kenwood unit like some tiburon's have. I have yet to see any other car have factory RCA outputs...

As far as I'm aware there are not direct harnesses that do this, they only way that I can think of to getting around not having to splice the factory wires would be to but an adapter harness for installing and aftermarket radio and then also buying the reverse harness to go back to factory wiring them together and adding your LOC in between them that would allow you to not have to modify the factory wiring...
