Yes.
The amp is internal to the stock stereo. There was no "premium sound" upgrade for the 01/02 AFAIK, so there's no external amp to bypass like there was on my SVT Contour.

Thanks! Got the info from someone else and kind of trial by error. Hooked it up and we had sound. So no external amp. Woo Hoo!!
