Breaking in a sub

I know some people think its unneccesry, and I don't want to get in to that.

But to break in a sub do you have the amp power turned down and not worry about volume the music is played at, have amp fully powered but just not crank up the music, or somewhere in between?

just don't really bump it for like a month and you will be all good.

Yes you need to break it in. I put a HX2 12 in my car and I didnt break it in and after like a day or two just making scream ALOT the sub no longer moved so I took it back and they knew I didnt break it in and almost didnt replace it but they also didnt tell me to do so either. So yes breaking it in is needed for atleast a few weeks. I broke in my 2 L7s for about 2 weeks or so.

There's such a debate about the necessity of 'breaking' a sub in.

I'm in the no camp, but it really can't hurt can it?

What you should do is find a few mp3s that play particular wavelengths or just a string of varied lengths. Search subwoofer test or some junk and that will work.

Now put your volume at medium volume (about 75% of what you would normally keep it at) and play the mp3s. Do this a few times every so often, and the rest of time just play your normal music. Basically, don't blast your music for a while so your coils have a chance to get 'warmed up'
