I recently bought a 3.0 duratec motor for my 99 mercury cougar which currently has the 2.5 in it. I also bought the SVT 2.5 contour, heads, intake upper/lower. And I need to know all the stuff I need to change can anyone help me out?

port match the upper and lower svt to the 3L heads and use the svt cams.
remember to use the SVT TIMING equiptment from the 2.5
its called a port match

Additional oil flow of the 3.0 heads.
There are three ways to do a 3.0 swap:
1. Hybrid - This means using a 3.0 block with 2.5 SVT or non-SVT heads and upper and lower intake manifolds.
Pros - easy, cheap, high compression for good power
Cons - high compression means forgetting about forced induction, still have the poor oil flow of the 2.5 heads. Lots of hybrids have spun bearings.
2. Straight 3.0 swap - Installing the engine with the 3 liter heads and intakes intact.
Pros - No head swaps/work required, good power and torque.
Cons - Risking up a fuel rail leak by having to fab up the fuel rail, also the EGR tube. Not easy to do.
3. Split port matched - 3 Liter engines have oval port heads. 2.5 engines have split port heads. "Port Matching" means you are porting out and converting the 3.0 oval ported heads to match up to the 2.5 split port intake manifold. Read the thread by Aircougar1 about port matching.
Pros - Looks and seems like a stock engine to anyone working on the car (local garage, etc). Does not require custom fabbed parts like fuel rails or EGR tubes.
Cons - Porting out the heads is a bit of work. Also, the straight 3.0 swap fanbois will threaten to eat your children.

Don't forget a loss in performance, especially when used with a 2.5L UIM.
Also, SVT camshafts can be used in an oval port for best max performance.

The "poor oil flow of the 2.5 heads" only applies to 2.5s from 2000 or PRIOR. From 2001 up, Ford added the "missing" oil drain back in the heads that the 3.0 has. FYI.

Are they the same Mark? So if building a 3.0 hybrid with late model 2.5 heads, you wouldn't have to plug those oil ports in the 3.0 block? I've never heard a definite answer to that...

Unfortunately, that I do not know for sure. I would assume that it's in the same spot, but you know what happens when you assume.
I've got a set of SVT heads in the basement, but I've never seen the late model 2.5 heads or the 3.0 heads. Maybe someone could find a pic in this forum? Not many late model 2.5 owners have done a swap, AFAIK.
