Thanks - I see they have them for $63 each. I think I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope someone has some for cheaper or has some konis they don't need...pfft.

I'm looking at a set of Koni "yellows" with GC coilovers for $1039. Seems a little steep - I haven't found anything cheaper though. I know I'll have to drop another ~$50 for the mounts, but does anyone know of a better price for this setup?

For that price you could go with K-sports or D2s...both assembled coilover systems. The bad thing about the Koni/GC setup is that you have to cut the spring perches off the Koni struts, which voids the warranty.

Are D2s a rough ride? Konis would be a little softer and adjustable.

From the reading that I've done, the Koni's are a little better as a daily driver suspension setup, and the D2s are more geared for performance (autocross etc). I would like to get into autoX eventually, but I'm not sure my car could handle it in it's current state. I was looking on TFP and I could just get stock replacements for a net of ~450; I'm just having a little trouble deciding whether or not to shell out the extra cash for a performance mod that I may not NEED. I would love to have a 3L turbo, quaife, Baer brakes, etc but it's just not a plausible goal at this point in my life. Unless I just take out more loan money for school and use the excess for teh coug .

A good suspension makes this car a blast to drive, even with no horsepower adders.
The fun is in the corners.

Koni's for sure, if you can justify the expense. Bilsteins or ST200s if you cannot.
Eibach or Roush springs.
Roush sway bar.
One of Jaged's rear strut tower braces.
You're good to go.

I'm slightly further than you are.... I have GC's and the Rear Koni's both hanging around in their boxes but now it seems I may go for a different setup.

So I found these:
AJUSA - 1999 MERCURY COUGAR - Shocks & Struts (http://www.ajusa.com/browse/vehicle/251/0/8314?sid=564f5379dce933882714c99ba4005996)
This is the lowest price I've seen. Anyone ever see them for lower?
