This seems like a "MUST" for any racing fan. I grew up watching the Indy 500 on Memorial Day weekend like a ritual, this is one thing I cannot miss out on. I figured I'd set up a time if there's interest from others.
2008 'Grounds Tour' Providing Behind-The-Scenes View Of IMS :: Official site of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/news/10378/2008__Grounds_Tour__Providing_Behind_The_Scenes_Vi ew_Of_IMS)
The Museum is taking tour ticket orders for the popular Grounds Tour, which provides a great opportunity to entertain family, friends or clients with a behind-the-scenes view of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's impressive infrastructure. The 90-minute tour, hosted by knowledgeable members of the Museum staff, provides a guided journey through the Speedway's rich history and visits to notable IMS landmarks normally open only to officials, drivers and teams during events.
Grounds Tour guests will visit the timing-and-scoring suite in the Bombardier Learjet Pagoda, the Media Center, Victory Podium, Gasoline Alley garage area and the world-famous "Yard of Bricks" at the start/finish line.
Guests also will tour the Hall of Fame Museum and enjoy a ride around the famed 2.5-mile IMS oval in one of the Museum's comfortable tour buses, culminating with an opportunity to stop at the "Yard of Bricks" and pose for photographs.
The cost per person is $25, and this includes the Museum admission.
IMS is only a couple miles away from the hotel, so those not wanting to waste alot of gas driving around shouldn't worry.
Tours are scheduled to depart from the Hall of Fame Museum four times per day on scheduled tour days: 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. (ET).
The Hall of Fame Museum is located in the IMS infield, just inside the main gate (Gate 2) off 16th Street. Tickets for the tour also include admission to the Museum and are $25 for adults, $10 for youth ages 6-15 and free for children age 5 and younger. Cash, traveler's checks, personal checks, Visa or MasterCard are accepted as payment for Grounds Tour tickets.
I would prefer the 11:15 or 1:15 tour, anyone who wants to go please pick a time that you would like.
