Although cheap, the Roush GB didn't live up to expectations, so I'm starting one that may well beat expectations: aluminum racing pedals - including a dead pedal for your left foot - made to fit the Cougar for just $75. That's 25% off MSRP and better than last year's group buy! And if we get over 20 orders (not counting single items), we get another $5 knocked off each order! There are several finishes and configurations, including the option to buy individual pedals. You can even get custom etching! The final price will vary depending on the options chosen. To order, please quote the entry below and fill it out.

Pricing (not including shipping yet):
Straight: ATX or MTX pedals with dead pedal and heel guard = $120
Four of a Kind: ATX or MTX pedals with dead pedal = $75
Three of a Kind: ATX or MTX pedals without dead pedal = $60
Pair: Gas pedal and dead pedal = $55
Ace High: Heel guard by itself = $50
King High: Dead pedal by itself = $35
Queen High: Gas pedal by itself = $25

Custom etching is available for free if 5+ sets are ordered with the same text. Example: "Turbo" or "NECO" but not "Ford" or "Roush" or "Cougar" for copyright reasons. If you want to customize them yourself, ask for blanks when ordering. Alternatively, if you want your pedals to say "Roush", order these for $25 (http://www.stage3motorsports.com/product/R08050001/200005_Ford_Focus_Roush_Billet_Pedal_Kit__Manual__ Clearance.html) and then order a Cougar gas pedal here for $25. That combo is just $50!

Lastly, if you want to shop for another vehicle altogether, lookup specs 'n pics here (http://www.autovationparts.com/store/page0.html) but order through this GB for a discount.

UPDATE: Shipping & Payment Info

Here is a picture showing how the MTX pedals are shaped. The dead pedal is on the far left. [These happen to have the matte finish.]

In addition to your choice of pedals, you have your choice of four finishes.

Machined IMO, this goes well with chrome accents. This finish closely matches the Roush pedals, available in another GB for $35.

Just so everybody knows all the options, you can also get OEM slipcover pedals originally designed for the Cougar S through your favorite Ford parts dealer (e.g. Bill Jenkins). I am not taking orders for these. Please call the dealership directly. Note that they cost about $80. Below is a pic of the pedals installed by Redlineracer812.

I will do a Group buy on the Ford OEM ones that came on the Cougar "S". I have these on my Mystique right now.

Gas Pedal
18WZ-9725-FA List $71.04 Inet $41.44 CEG GB $40.00
Clutch pad
1S8Z-7A624-AB List $20.85 Inet $16.82 CEG GB $16.00
Brake pad
1S8Z-2454-AB List $25.42 Inet $18.93 CEG GB $17.50

Total $73.50
S&H $8
Total with everything $81.50

The only thing I can not get is the dead pedal from the carpet, Ford sells it only with the entire floor carpet from the Cougar.

Here's an example of what the machined finish looks like installed. [Note: The pedals in this image were not made for a Cougar or a Contour].

http://www.autovationparts.com/store/media/images/SPMI301M-TT%20install%201%20polished.jpg

I sent in a template of the Cougar foot rest to ensure a perfect fit for the dead pedal. I am still waiting to hear back regarding etching "Cougar" or what have you.

gamiller
06-14-2008, 06:01 PM
on the contour that is what the stock "dead pedal" looks like, ours is rounded off. yes I am kinda nit picking on this but through the holes you should see the underlying rubber, not carpet material [I guess this would be the comparison to your existing pedal covers and the roush ones that are replacing them. your existing ones dont look bad but when put next to something of genuine fit and finish its a world nicer]... and like I said, they are more than willing to make us a corrected dead pedal, simply need to trace/make a cutout of the rubbered area and fax them a copy of it.

Terry, I sent Autovation a tracing I made of the Cougar foot rest. They agreed to make new pedals for the Cougar based on the trace. We should be ready to place orders on Wednesday.

gamiller
06-15-2008, 03:51 PM
Notes: if custom etching is available for free, I am thinking either cougar or NECO since i cant have roush.

Well, they cannot do "Cougar" or "Roush" or "Ford." They can do "NECO" but only if we get five requests for it. We currently have only two. Alternatively, you could order the pedals with "blanks" for etching and have them custom done. Blank pedals will not cost extra. Just let me know whether or not you want blanks.

I am thinking of placing the order on Wednesday. Any stragglers?!? :poke:

but lemme warn you guys, these really are a pain in the ass to install if the pedals are still on the car. Drilling through the metal is pretty hard and frustrating if you have a huge drill like me and getting them just perfect is out of the question i think... although i bs-ed through it and it turned out really nice i think!

looks great to me! what was difficult about the drilling? i hear you need a really sturdy bit, like carbide (cobalt?), and a block of wood to keep the pedal from moving.

looks great to me! what was difficult about the drilling? i hear you need a really sturdy bit, like carbide (cobalt?), and a block of wood to keep the pedal from moving.
the way the brake pedal is shaped, the metal (on the stock part) curls behind so if you drill it wrong, the bolt won't fit right? I don't know how to explain it, but you have to have it perfect or you'll put the bolt through the hole and the nut won't fit on the end because its too close to the metal on the sides... also, a block of would would help to steady them. A trick i used too was putting masking tape over the metal to mark the holes on, it also gave me a nice surface to start drilling into so that the bit wouldn't slip... but in the end, i ended up drilling one hole, bolting the pedal, and drilling the others with the pedal on, i think it turned out good enough though...

OH, one more, for the top screws on the gas pedal, make sure you have a short enough drill, its very tight to get a drill back there and then drill a straight hole...
