Sorry if this is a repost, I didn't find anything with the search.

I have some body parts that need sanding, for priming and was wondering what grit paper to use. They are all polyurathane except 1 which is fiberglass. Thanks!

Are they already painted or have a coating on them? 3M makes scuffing pads to prep surfaces for painting primer.

If they already have primer, then a 400 grit is fine. If they're painted and the paint is in bad shape, 600 grit.

400 grit paper is what we use to sand primer, paint covers that scratch very nicely. I would take some black spray paint though and dust over all the peices so you sand it flat and get rid of the waves.

It all depends on the condition of the part. If you have the body work done and just need to paint it now then you can wetsand with as low as 220 depending on the type of primer being used. Some types of high build primer need some amount of sanding scratches to bond to then you wetsand the primer to the grit reccomended by the sealer being used.

I wouldnt go over 600-800 on sanding
