I have read a number of posts in different forums about using floor jacks. A little over half the posts say to put the jack under the pinch welds just behind the front tires and just in front of the rear tires. Some suggest using a grooved piece of wood between the jack and the pinch weld. I'm guessing they put jack stands on the pinch welds too.

Other posts talk about using the subframe(?) in the front and frame rails in the back.

I would rather not use the pinch welds. They seem awful thin to support the weight of the car. I don't particulary want to bend anything on the car. What do you folks do?

I use the frame rails, right behind the front subframe.

I've always used what I believe you are calling the pinch welds. There are flat points designated for the jack about a foot behind the front wheels and infront of the rear. Whenever I've jacked mine up with a floor jack, I went just to the front/rear of those points then put the jack stands there.

that's where a lift would be placed on a car so I am assuming that it will probably be find with a jack. I don't know though. I use my friend's lift
