We have some new members joining, so I thought we should discuss having a meet. Since I now have a place suitable for meets, I can offer my place. Any thoughts?

i belive we should all be present for when the beast awakens this July... when the cougar gets SC'd and becomes a possible threat to Topik.... :cover:

My place will be where Andy's beast comes to life- Of course, the old crew is welcome to come to my joint. I'd need some notice to set up to get anywhere else, especially with Little Man...

Who are these new members?

Yea dan hurry up mofo

WTF you want me to do about it??? Andy's the man with the car, and I don't have a firm date since he was Pearl Harbored with his annual training for 'da Army (Marines? Ugh- Afraid to screw that one up.)

That means he's out until June 28th. The beast will drive up to my place after that, we'll rip out the powertrain, put in an LSD, then put everything back together with the S/C which has supposedly already shipped from BlackCoog.

So we're looking at Cougarfest weekend or the weekend after?

July 5-6 or July 12-13?

Mmmm...Pearl Harbor!

AndyMan

oops sorry for the late response...

I will be unaviaible from June 6th- 28th... The weekend after that is July 4th weekend so my plan is to come up to Dans that Friday on the 11th of July... pull the motor and transmission that weekend.... And the transmission shop is to work on the LSD install that week... so the following weekend should be when the SC is installed and ready to go.

You choose! The biggest problem though, is that there is currently a distinct lack of cash flow!

tnkgurl
05-30-2008, 05:32 PM
It's not so much le bebe that has hurt the cash flow, it's the new house. Ah well. Soon I'll sell the Coug and the cash flow issues won't be issues any more.

Andy, why waste the time when Josh has a $250 tranny in need of a diff? You could have Dan's buddies at Briscoe Transmission install the LSD into it and not have to wait for it. You could then keep or sell your stock tranny for a profit.

DanG

Hmmm... Food for thought there, Gary... We'd have to break the case open to make sure there's no additional damage... But if it's just the diff that's gone, $250 is money well spent to save the week's downtime... Andy?

AndyMan

hmmm.. that seems like something i am going to have to look into. I already bought the LSD. Hopefully it will be in this week. But the only bad thing about that is that i will be in quantico for the rest of the month with no car and i won't be able to really send or ship anything until i am back home in NC.

if anybody wants to grill in Fair Lakes, LMK. i'll be helping Xantheon (i.e. Joel) dismantle a Fiero and repair a Passat. There will be other car people and dogs present.

The "Dan G Garage" is/was/probably will always be a good place to meet, too...

Fine...I didn't want to have to do this....

Joel and I got the timing belt changed out. Had to fab up some tools to use on the Passat/A4, since they don't have timing marks on anything!

Tomorrow the bumper gets reinstalled and the brakes and axles will be replaced. It will be good practice for when I do mine.

Gary, do you really look like your picture? That's ummmmm...scary.

gamiller
06-15-2008, 02:12 AM
Yes, except for the jaundice. I should warn you: MILFs love me. ;)

Last night we finished up the Passat. Extracting one bolt took six hours! Once that was done, we torqued the axles and installed new brake pads on the front. To fill the ATX with fluid, I rigged up a siphon from a makeshift fluid reservoir to the valve on the underside of the tranny. The service manual called for a "special tool" featuring a J-shaped nozzle. Those Germans!
