Planing on changing my starter just was wondering if someone had a FMS, Helms booklet or any service manual online for my 1999 v6 cougar that explained how to change it.

It's a simple job - but just like everything on this car, it's REALlY TIGHT ON SPACE.
The starter is reached from the drivers side, and it is only held onto the transaxle by TWo BOLTS. But there are also several wires bolted onto the starter that you have to remove as well.
Best bet is to remove the rubber intake tube entirely to get the best access to it. Take all the bolts out (you'll need a small wrench, because you can't get a socket on those things) and maneuver the starter out of its home. There are several coolant hoses in the way, but they are just rubber, and you can pry them out of the way to make room.
Like i said, not EASY, but simple (as far as step-by-step goes).
I've attached one from contour.org for reference. Note: I didn't remove my fuel rail; i don't think it's necessary. For any help with the abbreviations, please read the sticky threads at the top of the duratec performance section here.
