I have had quite the interest in powder coating from the CEG members. Here is a link Joe's Powder Co. (pricing listed inside) - CEG Forums (http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=27135) to the CEG group buy listing and there are pics of work I have done for people there. I am offering NECO the same service and prices. Don't be afraid of the number of posts I have (4) because I have been on CEG since September 2002.

EVERYONE WHO GETS PARTS POWDER COATED, CLEAN THEM WHEN YOU GET THEM BACK! IT IS NOT MY JOB TO CLEAN YOUR ENTIRE PART. I ONLY BLAST, CLEAN, AND POWDER COAT WHAT I NEED TO. I AM NOT LIABLE FOR YOUR CARLESSNESS.

NEW OVEN, NOT WIRED YET (5-13-08)

I am officially announcing that I am now in the powder coating business. I am accepting just about any job at this time. Turnaround is about 1 week and I will notify you if it will take longer. Pricing is listed below for items that I have quoted for others.

I will cover return shipping for all orders, from the same location, that weigh less than 10lbs. If it weighs more than 10lbs ADD the return shipping money to the payment. This is just an outline of costs to you and are subject to change based only on the time to prep the parts and if you want a color I don’t have.

Add an additional $20 for each color change. IF YOU WANT POWDER COAT CLEAR ON YOUR PARTS, ADD $15 TO ENTIRE PURCHASE AND I WILL COAT ALL PIECES IN YOUR ORDER FOR $15.

If they are all the same color:

$25 for Weapon R power steering tank
$25 for Weapon R coolant tank
$20 for e-brake handle
$15 for shift knob
$20 for motorcycle case cover
$20 for each motorcycle hub
$22 for pudmunkie heat shield
$15 for metal oil cap
$35 for each valve cover
$20 for IMRC box
$20 for TB
$15 for MAF
$45 for UIM (was $65) POWDER COAT ONLY, MUST BE BLASTED PRIOR TO SHIPPING

$15 for battery hold-down bar
$20 for knuckle/hub
$60 for 4 rotor hats or 2 hats and 2 drum covers
$10 for each caliper bracket
$20 for each caliper body
(You must have your OEM brake calipers dismantled 100%. i was reading online that wheels need to be cured under UV light rather than in an oven b/c the typical baking process will weaken the wheels, causing them to fail. do you know whether or not this is true? how are you curing the wheels?

blu_fuz
05-20-2008, 10:29 AM
I have read that also. I bake up to 400 degrees. Each wheel's composition is different and if you think there is any chance that it could weaken the rim, don't send it. I did a set of steelies with no problems, but of course those are probably the easiest wheels and least compromised wheel you can powdercoat. I think each wheel is it's own case, be cautious and do your research. I would suggest calling the manufacturer to see what they say also before you decide. - JOE

I think I saw a set of pictures that showed a lot of the colors you have done but now I can't find it. I know colors looks different in person but do you have a list or a color set of the available colors you can obtain? How about a Matte or Satin Black color or will all colors have some bit of sheen or gloss to them?

when i get longtube headers one of these days ill be deleting the EGR, and as far as emissions go, i know a guy that passes abunch of us with modded cars in south cali.

But i was thinking about finding valve covers off of one in a junk yard and having you powdercoat them bright red. Its the v6 so theyre pretty tiny little OHV covers

a few guys i kno that powdercoat for online buy parts and have them ready to blast when they get a order in so they can charge a core until they get the part from the buyer, this way they can have one in transit saving on time... maybe its something you want to look into to save time and get you more business :)

maybe post a list of possible parts you would be willing to buy to have ready to powdercoat....

I think that's a good idea but you always have the wear factor. If I send someone my part to get powdercoated and it's in great shape almost new, I don't want to get back one that has a load of wear on it and simply looks nice. He would also run the risk of never receiving the part from a buyer or it getting damaged in the mail etc. There are just a lot more complications when you consider doing something like holding stock for future purchases.

I am such a small business also. I would rather not have that kind of inventory sitting around taking up space. Good idea for a bigger business, but powder coating is job specific and even things like valve covers change from year to year and nothing is ever quite the same. My turn around time is as fast as 1 day and back in the mail somtimes in less than 18 hrs from when I recieve it. I tell everyone a week for turn around just to cover my end of the deal in a timely matter. I have done powder coating on parts that cost more to ship next day air to me and next day air back! All depends on the job and what condition the parts are in when I get them.

Joe, will you accept fully-assembled, brake calipers directly from the vendor? I know that's not your preference, but I'd rather not pay for shipping to me twice. If not, I'll try to have the powder-coating done locally. Thanks.

blu_fuz
06-02-2008, 01:58 PM
I would take it right from there but it is such a huge PITA to tear the OEM brakes apart. Atleast the rears are a problem, havn't dismantled the fronts yet. I guess you could send them to me, it will just take a little more time for me to break them down. Can I leave them tore down and send them back to you that way? Then I would say yes, I would do it for you. I will explain the rebuild process to you also.......

gamiller
06-02-2008, 07:59 PM

Any luck on the bigger oven? I have that new ST200 RSB I'd like done before I install it.

I also saw that you were doing UIMs. What's the deal on those? Do they need to be blasted before they come to you? Have you done a stock non-svt version that is rough, if so how did it come out? I have an Ex-Honed I had thoughts of polishing but sending it to you would be much less time consuming.

blu_fuz

Can't use the big oven yet, my 3L build and car is in the way. See the big silver box behind the car:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f253/blu_fuz/1995%20Contour%20SE%203L%20Build/newpics111.jpg

Yes, I am doing UIMs and they have to be blasted before giving to me. With the more coarse non-svt UIMs I can do a couple coats of powder to help "fill" in the deeper pits. No gaurantees on smoothness but I can tell you that I can powder coat over JB weld so if you send a non-svt UIM with JB weld in the deep pits and sanded smooth, you will get a better finish :)

I'm digging the chrome, gunmetal or gray colors even though the car is Black, but I don't want to do the UIM Black because then it'll just look like an SVT.

I'll let you know as soon as I'm ready for that part and I'm sure I'll have a few more for you as well. It's too bad your so far away. I'd like to get a set of my rims done but the need to ship them pretty much negates the idea of having you do them.

Sorry it took so long for the sample. I usually refer back to "you have funds" e-mails to remember what I have to do and send out :)

Let me know how the color match is!

that arctic cat green is pretty damn close to what i've got. :) it's a little brighter than mine but close enough, as long as i don't put a painted and coated part right next to each other. i'm probly going to be sending u some calipers and maybe rotors to coat within the next week or so. got any kind of quantity discount for 2 calipers and 2 rotor hats?
