Since the Focus also has a Ztec i kind of though some parts would fit a Cougar. M i wrong. I'm trying to get a cold air intake for my cougar. but i could only find short ram intakes. So i was thinking of getting a focus intake instead, n just do some modifications as to make it fit. So your info would much appreciated thnx.

2000 SVT Focus CAI will fit with a battery relocation, otherwise it looks like this...http://www.newcougar.org/forums/videos-pictures/113058-custom-intake-svt-focus-i4-cougar.html

90 degree spectre pipe (with some form of sealing it to the throttle body since it's slightly loose), 6 inch straight pipe, 3" coupler, aluminum "intake pipe",angle it down under the battery.. MAF adapter pipe connects to the end of that.. MAF should reach you may need to remove a zip tie holding it, then put on the filter.. if you want to go further, you can pipe it forward to the front bumber.. a 90 in place of the filter should get you at a decent angle to start piping.

you'll also have to figure out a way to get a pcv breather filter thing on there unless you're going to pipe it back into the intake. I just kept the stock hose and put a small piece of aluminum pipe in it to make it larger.. then bought a push on breather at autozone to put on it.

Just get a K&N Drop in! The gains from an intake on a Zetec would be about 1whp lol

whoa whoa whoa.. 1whp?.. idk if i'd even give it that much ha.. i do get better mpg.. about 3+mpg better.. and it sounds cool when i rev.. that's about it.. does k&n make one for the cougar? i looked didn't think they had anything except a "high flow" filter for the stock air box..

It will work with some modification....thats what I'm running currently. Although if you want quality, buy one from zxtuner.com. There's one made for the Cougar, plus no modification.

that's a short ram.. not that either will give noticeable difference in driving.. although the short ram does seem to have a little better throttle response.

My focus one I got was a CAI not SR, but when it was all chopped to fit it basically came out like the ZXtuner one, which is the closest the zetecs come to a CAI setup. The pipe I have left over from the kit you could prolly make it into a true cai, most I'd need is about 8" of straight pipe from autozone.

yea.. i'm pretty happy with my CAI on the cougar.. but i live in louisiana.. so i should have probly just left it short ram and been done with it.. it just got done flooding like a foot of water down my road.. and anything bumper and up my filter get's soaked. I still haven't gotten hyrdo lock yet though.. weird.. but either way.. i'm not sure a CAI makes anymore of a difference than a SR does.. atleast not on the I4

Starting out it doesn't give you a big bump in power, but it does keep your engine in good working order & gas mileage up. The SR brings in hot engine air which kills gas mileage & can harm the engine in the long run.

yea that's one thing i'm loving.. it's keeping my gas usage down while i'm killing my self on budget for my turbo build haha.. when i drive normal i'm getting like 5mpg more? it's seomthign crazy like that.. i was very impressed..
