I've heard that Throttle body from 96-04 Mustang 4.6L will fit cougar/svt manifold. Does anybody already try it? How about throttle bracket and cable - Svt parts will be good for mustang TB? Right now I have svt 65mm TB and I'm wondering that is it worth to change it for bigger one?

if you're gonna use the 70mm, you might want to measure the opening on your UIM. SVT is 67mm iirc. Having a smaller UIM port is going to hurt the performance gain. You might want to port match the two, to get the most from the upgrade...G.

You need to be moving a LOT of air before you're going to benefit from a throttle body that large. Do you have a turbo or a blower or something?

SVT should be plenty large enough for your application, otherwise.

the CSVT tb is smaller than 65mm. I have a 65mm set up on an extrude hone uim and the TB is larger than the uim opening

That's what i was thinking :/

No, I havn't any, just stock svt (st200) intake.

Ok, thanks guys

hmm... i dont think you will need a bigger MAF.

I do believe it is 60mm.

no definitely not. changing out the MAF is going to cause you more problems than its worth. The stock one is good to 250ish HP before its voltage range is maxed out.

and keep in mind that bigger is not always better with TB's. Its unlikely that anything short of forced induction will give you any benifit of having a TB larger than a stock SVT.

The one thing you will want to do is optimize the TB. Such a small mod has been dyno proven to make a decent amount of power across the whole bandwidth.

i thought the svt tb was 63mm?

we have a winner. plus i feel the 65mm tb would really only be benefitial with a 3L

imho

Nope... SVT t/b is 60mm. The estimated flow area on an "optimized" SVT t/b is around 63mm.

morbid is correct. its 60mm. flowbenched a optimized svt tb would flow about the same as a 63mm tb. i'm currently running a optimized 65mm tb on my svt. i'd like to dyno both 60 and 65 back to back. i know on the probe boards i'm on going from a stock 60mm tb to a 65mm tb gained 7whp 6wtq on a bone stock 2.5L pgt.

7 horse on a switching from a 60 to a 65mm? if thats the case i have a 65mm tb in my closet that will be going on if that can be proved

Which particular 65mm TB will fit svt manifold in cougar?

Bnoons on CEG have been dyno proven. it was around the same amount accross the powerband.....~5hp to the wheels. I want to say the exact amount was 7 hp, but don't quote me on that.

apples and oranges. zomg! my camero buddy swapped in an 80mm tb and gained 20hp! While the trends may hold between different cars, apples and oranges.

also bnoon has a fair amount more done than a bone stock cougar v6.

The gain of 3HP was across the entire RPM range. Peak gains were 8-9 HP at high RPM where the stock one fell off.
Also to mention, those dyno runs were repeated 3 times with each TB, the TB swapped, brought to operating temp, then run 3 times again. 3HP above the best run with the stock TB across the entire RPM range and 8-9 up top (like at 6500 RPM-7000 RPM area).

Those are quotes from BNoon.

How much HP was he making ?? At what point do you guys thing going with a 65mm would help power on a N/A engine.

I mean would it help a Full SVT, or a 3L ?

I would email him at
brad@bnmotorsports.com
to get the exact number and what he did to his car to get those numbers

The thread I found from BNoon on CEG said

"The ported SVT Contour TB has been proven to add 3-5 HP across the entire RPM range with 8-9 at peak"

Not talking about the 65mm.

When asked about the 65mm he said

"In order to get much of a gain from it, you need to have a need for the larger TB, like a 3L swap or turbo/SC"

Linky (http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=13567)

Once my car is finished I think I'm going to optimize a TB, and try getting a 65MM.

There are a couple other things I'd like to try .... but full dyno runs can get pricey... I might spring for one of these (http://www.gtechpro.com/rr.html)to get an idea of gain vs loss from different mods
