i think theres a group in livingston parish. i guy i work with says that he knows a few people that all hangout. They are mostly imports. but its a start i guess.
Danef150
05-14-2008, 11:54 PM
Yea we have a decent import scene in hammond...well they come to hammond then go race on the road that runs along the interstate..i dont like to involve myself with them too much tho.
YOSLVR442
05-15-2008, 10:43 AM
i gotcha. at this point i cant find many car shows or anything so im starting to get desperate!
Danef150
05-15-2008, 05:18 PM
Your dad ever get your car out of the shop befor it closed down ? No doubt they seem to have car shows in hammond every once in a while, and there are nice cars down in Ruddoc. So yea if your bored their are options.
YOSLVR442
05-16-2008, 09:02 AM
he got the car out, but they still have the motor in pieces. so, the owners said that he will try to have it done by the end of this month. im not holding my breath.

state capitol drag has car shows every once in a while.. and out here in walker people bring out there beast v8's and old cars to show off.. nobody want's to see a cougar drive up to that though haha..
YOSLVR442
05-17-2008, 08:58 AM

05-18-2008, 04:17 PM
the winn dixie right off the interstate.. i think you'd be coming down interstate from BR direction, get off the interstate, take a left going into town, then on the left you should see a winn dixie.. if i hear anything about any shows upcoming i'll let ya know

hey btw.. are any of you confident enough or equipped to install piston's and rod's in my zetec?
YOSLVR442
05-23-2008, 11:16 AM
Are the wrist pins in the rods and pistons?? if not then i cant really help there. But i do have the knowlege to install the pistons, i need to get a ring compressor anyway.
c0alition
05-24-2008, 01:03 AM
i'll sound like a noob here.. but i'm guessing there's a special tool to put in wristpins.. which would make sense i guess... they do need to be held together pretty good.. I have a friend who works at a plant and does auto work out there.. i'm sure he could attach the two.. he's just so busy lately with a turn around he's on that i don't want to bother him with engine building.. just wasted all my money on rims tires a body kit and about to get it painted.. but after i save up some more money.. i'll be buying all the stuff for my bottom end rebuild.. i'll buy any tool's you need.. and not sure how much you'd charge to do it.. but i'll ask you about it when i get the parts...
btw: i found that cougar that was for sale.. http://batonrouge.craigslist.org/car/660206715.html

Funny that you mention that cougar...I used to know the guy who did all that to the car...It really looked amazing up close. I purchased my springs and struts, big brake kit, and superleggera's and a few other things from him a long time ago..Then he sold it and i guess the new owner is selling it. The funny part is that those wheels are the factory wheels from my car. Just thought i would throw that in.
YOSLVR442
05-24-2008, 10:33 AM
its not really a "special tool" its more like a torch. you heat up the piston and the rod and the wristpin should slide into place. dont worry about buying the misc. tools im going to be needing them anyway when i rebuild a spare 455 i got.
i work at a gas plant as well. we have been shipping 6-packs of argon to a place that is doing a turn around. i think its something "furnace and pipe". it sucks working long days, i dont feel like working on the car when i get home.

thats funny how cougar parts get swapped when there is such a small community who mods them!

g'z, that's how much I bought my cougar for stock.. with 110k on it.. just thought about that. I just don't know if I could buy something with airbags.. unless it was a secondary car.. i've just seen them not work too many times
Danef150
05-24-2008, 03:59 PM
I think it has strut bags not sure though...but if so it shouldnt be too hard to convert back with some springs and struts...dont take my word for it though..if i could see under it i could tell you more clearly.

Danef150
05-24-2008, 10:31 PM
Lets just say at the time it was sold the first time...the car was deffinatly done proper. The paint was amazing...but theres no telling how the next owner treated it.

05-24-2008, 11:20 PM
it looks like the same one i saw out on airline.. but if it is.. it sits out there all day and night.. so no telling if they even took care of it before it was for sell
YOSLVR442
05-27-2008, 09:35 AM
yeah, thats usually how it goes. the next buyer of some nice custom car doesnt treat it right. ive seen it happen alot.

So i guess this is now just the general chat thread ha.. but has anyone heard of that junk yard out in port allen? Used to be called budget or budge it or something.. I heard it's $65 to pull any transmission.. or $250 for any complete engine.. I'm thinking about heading out there saturday.. and just wondering if anyone else has heard of it
YOSLVR442
05-28-2008, 10:58 AM
been there. its not bad, kinda small. i saw some engines and brake parts i would wanna pull. i dont think i saw any cougars actually. im assuming its the one right on i-10, or frontage rd whatever it is. i was debating about going saturday late morning.
YOSLVR442

idk.. there used to be one 5 minutes from my house.. but that was when i was a kid and didn't care about cars.. i went there the other day and it's a fence shop now or something.. but yea.. i actually just bought a totalled focus zx3 off craigslist for $400! so i'll tow that to my house and pull all the under hood parts..
YOSLVR442
05-28-2008, 01:59 PM
sweetness. gotta love tearing down cars!!

05-28-2008, 02:30 PM
just found a craigslist listing that offers free car removal from property.. i'll probly get it to my house.. rip out all the parts i want saturday morning.. and get them to tow in the afternoon haha..
YOSLVR442
05-28-2008, 03:27 PM
i would love to find cars like that and sell the parts. that could be my 2nd job!! except you have to find that right buyers for cars.
Danef150
05-29-2008, 06:19 PM
Yep yep i sure wish someone would ask me to come pull a wrecked cougar or better yet one with a popped motor off their property..I'd be stoked since ive got moost i would ever need to fix it allready sitting around
c0alition
05-30-2008, 12:00 AM
ha.. this focus is completely demolished.. but you're more than welcome to any left overs you can get off it if you want to check it out..
Danef150
05-30-2008, 12:03 AM
not too much i can get off a focus...i guess had i known you had it befor i coulda probably got the factory radio out of it....Other than that ive gotten 3 antenna bases from focuses...dont use a brush to wash your car lol.
YOSLVR442
05-30-2008, 07:41 AM
smooth! haha
ice992
05-30-2008, 12:13 PM
antenna bases are overrated, go with an internal, powered antenna with a signal booster and weld the hole, or, like I did, put an XM antenna there and silicone the hole around the wire under the magnetic antenna
YOSLVR442
06-02-2008, 08:13 AM
not a bad idea. im sure it looks a lot cleaner like that
ice992
06-02-2008, 06:55 PM
yea it was a very clean look... thats why I did it, plus I got tired of the crappy antenna lol
YOSLVR442

anyone ever run at state capitol drag? what kinda times did you get?
YOSLVR442
06-15-2008, 10:05 AM
nope, as soon as i get my car here i will be going straight there. hoping to run at least mid 13's. i usually go there for the TNT to watch.
c0alition
06-17-2008, 12:58 AM
g'z i was thinking 13's??? but then i saw you had 3.0 swap.. that's tight.. i'm thinking about taking my cougar to run just to get my time.. before and after i start putting parts into it.. but i might just take it to a straight back road.. even though i won't get all the extra info.. idk
YOSLVR442
06-17-2008, 09:55 AM
its nice to have a baseline. i would run it now and the see the difference later. Plus you cant beat the adrenaline you get from drag racing.

06-18-2008, 08:10 AM
to run i think its like 25-30 i think, could be cheaper. thats what it usually is anyway at other places.
Danef150
06-18-2008, 04:18 PM
Last time i ran at no problems it was 10 to race or 10 to watch. Not a bad deal i must say. However we did go on test and tune nights.
YOSLVR442
06-18-2008, 04:57 PM
TNT are usually the best nights to go.
Danef150
06-18-2008, 05:09 PM
Yep yep you usually get to run more times. Btw last time i ran i ran crappy crappy crappy. I hope youve got your wheel hop down. Its bad and breaks things lol...I learned that the hard way. Ive got prt solid trans mounts and tubular control arms and if the track is prepped too well...sounds strange but it can you will still hop. I'd also pull my tower and replace the bolt that breaks on the inside with a hardened steel one...Believe me you dont want it to break on ya.
c0alition
06-18-2008, 11:37 PM
ha, i only have the zetec.. if break stuff with stock i've got more to worry about than trying to make it faster haha.. my car is old.. but i'd hope it wouldn't break from a few runs
YOSLVR442
06-19-2008, 02:34 PM
once i put the coilovers on it pretty much went away. i have full solid motor and trans mounts. the last time i ran the coug was when it was pretty much stock! haha man it was slow!!
Danef150
06-19-2008, 11:58 PM
Yea my coug was phenominally slow...guess it would have been better if i had been able to get it into second...damn breaking shift tower...well now with the new tower i havent been back to the track but im hoping to do better. Expecially since i have a quafe...and every traction mod known to man....
YOSLVR442
06-20-2008, 11:29 AM
yeah you should be doing a ton better!! im def curious to see your coug.
Danef150
06-21-2008, 02:19 AM
hahaha its nothing like your coug...honestly its not much to look at but i love it...Ive had it for a while and given it a rough life and its still kickin. It handles well and runs pretty good for a car with 130k I think it is about time for some pre cat gutting tho...or get my 3.o build going...Im so ready to go 3.0 :)
YOSLVR442
06-21-2008, 07:23 PM
HAAHHA!! Im sure it looks good!! Let me know when you go the 3.0L ill help ya out. or whatever you need. i got a good place to work.
