Guys; i have a set of non return injectors which i may use later. My car is return style fuelling. Can i swap out the engine harness for a non return style harness without issues or is it better to just splice a set of non return injector connector plugs to my return harness ? .. G.

Just get return style injectors and be done.
Replace injectors on a 2.5L for what?Got boost?

There are several differences between the return and returnless harnesses- The injector connectors is only one- Others include the oil pressure sender, fuel rail pressure sensor, and a few others.
Don't swap. Don't splice. Only use what's supposed to be with the car.

Are you suggesting not to splice in case it's not done properly ? I haven't seen any 21lb return injectors..suggestions...this is for a stage 1 F.I. setup.....G.

thanks habcougar; i've just been trawling through the contour archives and warmonger and blackcoug were asking about these injectors in 2000 !! There seems to be some disagreement about XF1E A5B's (similar to the navigator) being 21 or 24s. Terry Haynes was talking about YL8E- XXXXX-C78 cream 21/24s ?? Got some reading for sure. ..G.

any specific reason for that? Or is it just one of those "no specific reason other than you are 99% likely to do it wrong"
Folks have said you can splice returnless injector connectors onto a return-style harness. They say there's no difference between a 19# return and a 19# returnless injector other than the harness.
I didn't find that to be the case- Back in '01 when I did my 3L hybrid, I spliced the harness. Thing never ran right- Bad gas mileage, choppy idle, bucking, etc. I replaced the harness with an extra I had and went to return-style 19# injectors, and it was night and day- Mileage increased, power was more linear (less jumping on the dyno graph), and idle cleared up.
That tells me something's different. Dunno what, I've just recommended to stay with the right kind of injectors ever since.

Thanks for that Dan, you've made it much easier to accept that return injectors are needed....cheers G.

hmm, have you ever looked to see if the injectors have different resistance ratings?? I have 4 spare harnesses laying around so this was something I wanted to experiment with... still going to try it for fun because it would be trivial for me to revert back to stock.
