View Full Version : Found this working on the tranny

Well I was working on removing the tranny since the thing is stuck in third gear. I was under there removing the steering from the subframe and belive i found the culprit of the tranny problem, A whole in my tranny. I looked up with a flashlight and poked around and a bolt head fell out. Looks like it got caught in the gear i have no clue where the rest of it is. Not sure where the bolt is from but i figured id share with you lol

That sucks. I wouldn't consider it as an "lol" matter.

yeah, I got a diff tranny im throwing in so no big deal. Just thought id share with ya. Im guessing thats the reason it has been stuck in 3rd

Luckily mine broke in neutral, I have a friend who's broke his twice in his SVT and both times it broke in gear. I've heard its an atrocious PITA when they're stuck in gear like that.

just curious, whats the difference with in gear vs neutral. Im taking the tranny out and prolly junking it because i got a new one im putting in

the shift tower is means to come out of the trans while in neutral. all of the shift forks are lines up and match the tower. the key way for the tower in the shift forks all line up. if it is stuck in gear one fork will not line up and it then becomes very hard to remove the tower ...
