Est. 2006

what is it now

25 motor swaps
4 atx->mtx swaps
2 mtx ->atx swaps

Anyway for all contours/mystiques/cougars that where present at the CCSU Car Show yesterday Aircougar Performance was well represented.

Out of the seven cars there 6 have had Greg for on them.

Also 5 out of the 7 cars had 3L swaps.

So let this thread be documentation of the work done by Aircougar Performance.

So post pics of your car and list work done by Aircougar Performance and thanks to Greg for all of his hard work.

If you could come closer to NC, I would love to have you do the 3L MTX swap for my ride. Darn distance.

Right... well I had just shown it to a few people and didn't intend for it to be used. Maybe we could just use the fonts I used minus the Jordan logo. It would be clean and simple and I would def rock that.

Yeah, thanx to greg i actually have a reason to show my car and oddly enough the first show i go too after the front lip(andrew), aussies(Josh), Engine and Tranny(Greg), Newport Trip that made me need a mtx and 3L(Brian)and smart ass remarks(Ian) i got a piston on a plaque that they called my ***** award. So technically the first award i ever got is going to be representing the Newcougar community since most of the car wouldn't be possible without them...Get me an aircougar decal and i don't care about copyright infringment, Michael Jordan can sue me...

I actually had a much simpler Decal idea that didn't have a logo... and it was just a one line decal, but I can't swing the money to order a bunch of them right now... :banghead:

Anyway, thanks again for the credit, but I wouldn't be anything without all of you guys supporting me, helping me, and pushing me to try new installs...

Like I said on CEG, you guys really are the best! and Really great friends, too!

I am hoping to have a meet sometime soon, but I need the Cougar running first. Once it is running and passes inspection, the Vortech SC, injectors, MAF, fuel pump, Intercooler and piping, y-pipe and Borla dual exhaust will all go on...

See you guys around! :)

You can have mine if I can find it again.

Aircougar decals ala parkedcar would be awesome! The one in Ian's sig is perfect, especially because of Greg's love for basketball.
Maybe if you change the Jordan image a bit, it won't be a copyright infringement.
parkedcar is a wiz at whipping up drawings. It can't hurt to run some ideas by him and get a price quote.

I'll get Bob to change the design a bit so it isn't clearly Michael Jordan...haha. He DID change it up a little bit from his original design. It used to be where Jordan wasn't connected to the text, but to avoid infringement, he took Jordan's arm and overlayed it onto the A...

If we could get this with "aircougar" in black, and the "peformance" in Silver or gumetal color, without a Background color, I think it would be much better, especially for a window decal... Or just all one color, to save on Price.

And make it all ONE line as well with the same FONT as "aircougar"... like the one in Bob's and Ian's sig

I am particular to Silver and Gunmetal myself :)

Alright... I think the single line will be best for vinyl. It will look nice on a rear or side window. The only problem is that black will be hard to see on tinted windows. So I am thinking this should b done in silver or graphite. Once we decide on something, I will talk to Parkedcar about getting these made.

Yes, silver/ graphite will be nice, then you could stick it anywhere on the car, and on nearly any color Cougar/Contique with it still being able to be seen...

I personally won't put any decals on the outside of the car except for the windshield in the lower corners and along the bottom, just my preference.

Question for swapmaster Greg, and the rest of you SVT guys.

Did the SVT Contour ever come automatic? I didn't think so, and I've never seen one.

And if they are all MTX, how much to swap to an ATX these days for a former Contour guy who wants one, but do to a permanant disability after a psych patient stabbed him can no longer drive standard. That is if we already had the car, and had to buy the trans, etc. or a donor car altogether.

Yes it can be done, i forget his name but one owner had a 3L ATX in wethersfield, ct. The thing to consider is getting the svt(either car or engine) and an ATX(Greg has a few:rofl:maybe) then programming the ATX computer to run with the 3L or 2.5 svt engine. Since its an ATX you have to be careful of breaking something=no good. Idk about durability, etc. And if you need to buy an svt then get the car, it may be cheaper. if you want just the engine then its a 3L and a little bit of custom work. Depends on what he has now but i'm sure it can be done. BTW no, they didn't make an atx svt tour'. It like the reverse of swapping in an MTX so you'd need a new axle(drivers side), ATX Ecu and then program that with an xcal to work with the new modifications, an ATX, an ATX subframe, a TRANNY COOLER,since if its an mtx=no atx cooler and even if it has one , an atx cooler is a def. added benefit.

cooler is built into the radiator ... and te stock radiator doesn't have previsions for that ...

but all in all don't do that to an SVT ... its just not right. just get any old contour or cougar and go that way ...

That's just kind of rude. It's like saying that a nice building shouldn't be handicap accessible because the ramp would make it look bad.

Anyways, tranny cooler is pretty cheap insurance, and I would imagine a donor car would also have a good radiator with tranny line hookups. Running the cooler in series with this gives added cooling and keeps from over cooling in the winter.

You can certainly do it, but it ruins the authenticity of the limited-edition vehicle. Not to mention the guys on CEG would castrate you -- heck some of them didn't like when I swapped my SVT's interior color.

Personally, an automatic SE would be much more financially sensible. You can buy a V6 SE cheap and put money into modding the car extensively. To buy a similar condition SVT, you'd be spending a few thousand right off the bat and then another few thousand on top of it to convert to ATX.

Skunk (on CEG) has a beautiful 2000 SE (ATX SVT clone). I've been in the car - it's freaking quick with the right tuning. I'm sure he would be glad to give more details to you about his car.

Good luck..

that is not what I intended ...

but rouar hit it sqaure on the head. I know one other that sold his SVT and got a plain old SE atx and then made it into an SVT. It would be cheaper to get a Se over the SVT and then mod it ... more so with 3L's being so cheap ...

aircougar1
05-08-2008, 05:46 AM
Yes, I agree here.

For all the work to swap an actual SVT from MTX --> ATX, it just isn't worth the $$$ and effort, when you can find side skirts, bumpers, and UIM, LIM, TB for much less, and then get an Xcal to make the ATX run a little better with its mods....

Great to hear that it is running better. I'm glad that I heard it run and was able to tell you what the problem was. And sorry that I wasn't able to come help out. The fuel pump took me alittle longer to install then I thought it would and then I got called into work. Actually, my wife has to cut back hours at her job now, because of some health issues, so maybe within 1 -2 years, this might be starting up officially...

I think once my Cougar is back up and running, I won't have many personal projects to do anymore, and will want to focus more on swaps, fabricating, etc...
