I was driving back to Medicine Hat from Lethbridge today keeping the cruise on about 115 in a 100 zone passing here and there. I look in my rearview and I see this new white mustang with 2 red racing stripes.. so soon enough he passes me, and its a shelby GT350
I figure I found myself a nice rabbit, so I keep up with him going around 140 (at one point hit 180 passing) anyways i'm making killer time following this shelby, RD doesn't flash me anything the whole time.
So I finally lost him, he had the chance to pass 2 cars at once and I didn't. Oh well so i set my cruise again at 115 and continued on my way since I was only about 10min out. I reach medicine hat and merge onto the #1 highway form #3, as i approach a bridge my radar shoots me a K band alert. I slow down to 80 (the speed limit) from 100 and sure enough theres a cop sitting there with a radar gun  955, just save me a bunch of $$$. The alerta gets stronger and goes away as i pas the cop. Then I notice flashing lights ahead and the RD shoots me a Ka band alert. Maintaing my speed I approach whoever got pulled over, i glance over and see...
White Shelby GT350 with 2 red racing stripes
Man I love this thing :biggrin:

I really hope you get a massive speeding ticket one day that costs so much it over draws your account, then you can't make rent and get evicted. That would be the best case senario so no one gets hurt and you still learn to control speeding problem.

I don't know about Ontario but Not in Alberta
Thats roughly 87-112mph and the 112 was once passing a car and a semi (single highway. The speed limit was 100 on these roads so 62mph.

Thats not very nice.
I really don't think I have a speeding problem since i live in Canada and I use km/h  This is also a streight line prarie highway.

Seriously?! I thought they weren't allowed anywhere in Canada! Damn... I'll add it to the list of stuff that Alberta gets that we don't - like having half the tax

Bels are nice, but I always return to my V1. It's the number and direction indicators that make it for me.

I know thats in kpm. But still, you said you hit 180 kpm in a 100 kpm zone. Thats around 110 mph. And you also admitted to there being other cars on the road that you were passing. Good call.

it is illegal not to have cats on your car unless its built before 1981 (ithinkthatstherightyear) but the only time the check is if you get it insepected when its more then 15 years old

alberta laws FTW
ive seen the highway from alberta to lethbridge and its straight and flat the whole way and you can see really well. even a 4 lane for a good portion of it.
180 is still excessive but it could have been in a worse place.
ive drivin that road many times and most people go around 130 on it normally. ive gone by a cop at 130 (limit 100) and he never pulled me over

I have that radar's little brother, the Beltronics 940, and I love it. For $149, I doubt you could find a radar better than this one.

Hahaha, that's funnier than hell.
I guess he was paying to much in payments on the car to be able to afford a detector, huh? :P

Dero: Oh yeah, I forgot about that, i'm just used to them never checking for exhaust..
I know 180 is a bit accessive but like I said only once, passing (so accelerating) streight line, and it was also only 40 more then what we were going, usually when i pass cars i end up at around 150-160 (depending on size) before i can let off and move back into my lane. Maybe its just me but even tho I can see if there is a car coming, i don't like to stay in the on-coming car lane very long.
Like Iceberg said it is a nice highway and you can see for a very long time at spots, well almost tho whole highway you can see for a very long time.

He thinks 80 is bad on my way to Fort Wayne Indiana one day there is a 2-3 mile stretch on US 24(which splits into a 4 lane high way for those 2-3 miles) and i wanted to see how fast my new 99 would go before the governor kicked in the gov kicks in at 115 drives it down to 110.

i "heard" they'll do 145+ in stock trim, just hear say tho

I believe the sport package does 137mph which is about 220km/h..

Sport Package = no speed limiter. Physics will stop you in the 140 +/- range though.

I could have sworn that I read that they just raised the speed govenor to a little over 152 or 156...
I think that's one of those big debatable things.

I just bought a belltronics 965! I doubt it will save me from anything..since cops in Louisville wont bother with you unless you're doing 25+ over.

Like sonza said, sport package has no speed limiter. You are limited by engine power and wind resistance.

That roads always dead anyway, nice drive, but I wouldn't speed on it. Cops are sneaky here.
I was thinking of getting a radar detector, but I just decided it's easier not to speed.

I kept having someone change that on the Cougar Wikipedia page, they kept saying "its not removed, just raised"...
EDIT: They changed it back AGAIN!!!!
"Sport Package" models with the V6 featured 4-wheel vented disc brakes (from the Contour SVT), 16" alloy wheels, and a higher speed governor installed. Contrary to popular belief, the speed governor was not removed, but simply raised as a result of high speed rated tires with the 16" wheels. The top speed of the manual transmission car was 135 mph (217 km/h) in top gear at redline. While this was considered attainable given enough road, the automatic transmission version could not reach this speed without significant engine modification. With the sport package, the speed governor was raised to just higher than 135 mph (217 km/h) so, essentially, it was never seen. Without the sport package, the speed governor was set at 115 mph (185 km/h).

Contrary to popular belief, the speed governor was removed, and the top speed of the car was limited by drag and engine power in top gear at redline, around 135 mph.
