I have searched and searched, I swear there was a thread with the optimum operating temperature of our engines somewhere?

My question is...what is the best temp to operate the engine? Whats too cold? Whats too hot?

I think as long as its not over 250 you're all set. As for too cold, I let my temp needle start moving a good bit before I drive it, even if its hot out. I'm kinda anal about driving anything before its warmed up.

190-200 is normal, I think the low fans kick in at 210 and the High speed at 216+

The zetec's run a bit hotter on average than the 2.5's IIRC

I just posted this on CEG a few days ago.

normal operating temp for ALL 4 stroke gasoline engines should be between 190 and 220 degrees Fahrenheit.

I searched for this last week to with no luck. I figured around 200*F was about normal. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Then you may have a problem, thats a bit too low. Maybe your thermostat is sticking open?

normal temps for the duratec should be around 190-220 w/the oem thermostat.
212-219 are low and high speed fans temps. oem thermostat is 192
