Wel everybody knows I was building a race car. I have found out some interesting news that the track I was going to be racing at 1)is a total wreck, half the front stretch wall is gone and they have highway dividers in place of the cement wall. The 51% track owner sold everything he owned in ohio and moved to florida and the 49% track owner is 500,000 in debt to a bank in dayton after losing his car lots.
So the other tracks that have compact racing are either to far or the cougar isn't a legal car because of the 6cyl engine.
So hears my question. Is anybody in Ohio up for a tranny swap? The race car is a manual so since i have everything, both cars are 2.5's I was debating selling the race car and all the stuff but after more thought perhaps somebody in ohio would want to swap my tranny from my DD so I can have a manual and if there is someone that is willing to do that you can have the auto tranny and the rest of the race car as payment for your time because I really have no funds with the moving out and divorce and stuff.
Let me know whos up for it. I dont have any knowledge on the mechanical side of this and I'm just assuming since I have the whole car with a manual tranny that all of the required components for a tranny swap are there.

If I had a 2 car garage and if I could have both of your cars for 2 weeks I would take you up on the offer. I don't know the mileage on both the cars, but if you are going to do it and you plan to kept the red cougar for a while, I would suggest planning on replacing some things while you doing it which would cost about a $1k in upgrades. Of course you don't have to, but if everything is out, why not.

The red cougar is going nowhere, ever. LOL The red one has 85K miles the white one had (according to the Odometer)90K. Thats why I figure a swap would be pretty cool about now since mileage is fairly even on both. when I drove the white one the tranny shifted good and wasn't sloppy or anything.
well I would have some money for upgrades. Im trying to get a job ANYWHERE right now. that will work around my school schedule so I'm really stuck with fastfood and junk like that. I get my boys every other weekend and they both are living with me so my #1 priority is the time I get to spend with them. Fast food getting bumped to the top so I have my weekends with my boys. I have 8 weeks left of school so thats good.
Im paying of 3 credit cards. I could always use them for the upgrades. LOL
I'm also debating getting a 3.0 while im at it, like you said, since its all coming out anyway. LOL
the major downside is while the car is being swapped I have no transportation.
but yeah money is a big part now on what i upgrade and don't upgrade. The fact that I'm not getting rid of the cougar, barring some major catastrophe, makes me comfortable paying for the upgrades
1k isnt really alot though in the grand scheme of things.
If somebody would buy my 3pr fiber optic cable that would get me $600 LOL
Ya know if I can get Amanda's white van fixed(the linkage broke and everything is rusted together) I could go without the cougar for 2 weeks, id be willing to rent a 2 car storage in columbus for a month. LOL She'll let me borrow that van . *a plan is formulating*

Well if your thinking a 3L as well, plan on another $2-3k,and possible more down time. Plus you will need to take it to a dyno and get the thing tuned in order for it to run well. Honestly man, I think you would be best suited to just let the car sit for a year. Get your life squared away, and make plans for next year. Either kept the car to race it, if the track stays open, or plan your swap over the next year to make sure you are going to end up with exactly what you want.

K heres a dumb question. is there anything i need to do to the tranny thats in the race car to save it from getting any damage from sitting or when it gets swapped is that something that can be fixed from whatever may happen from just sitting?
I can't see investing anymore in the car to turn it into a race car. I have $500 more in parts to buy that I have the money put up for but after hearing what I heard about the owners from someone thats close to them and helps me out I would be better off throwing my money out the window.
yeah waiting probably would be best. I just thought of the swap last night laying in bed staring at the ceiling. LOL.

This might be a bit overkill, but I would change the engine oil, and trans fluid, and put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank. Then just try to drive it around or atleast start up once a month until it gets to normal operating temperature. I think I saw that you have it on a trailer right now, but if you park in on the ground don't park it on the grass because the extra moisture will help rust up everything really nice, which would make the swap even harder. If you move the car it will also help the tires from getting a flat side.

Also, just thinking further into this if you swap trannys its easiest if you can swap the computers too. Which could be a problem between a 99 and 00 if they are different type of fuel systems.

dont worry about circle track racing, you need to autox it. and if you go that way your boys could ride along with you(if you have 2 seats in it) and they could learn some real world driving skills. if the car is driveable just run it up and down the block every couple weeks
