Hello all. My name is TJ, I am currently in the Land O' Lincoln chapter. I will be moving to AZ late June/ early July for school. My classes start July 7th. I am looking forward to meeting up with a lot of you, as I have heard/read great things on this forum. See you all in a few months.

BTW, I posted up in the garage section, my new car is a 2kCSVT. The SVT will be coming with me to AZ.

Thats what I'm hearing. But, I also hear the weather there between July and September is an average of 105. Thats pretty crazy.

I should have weekends off if there are any meets/cruises going on.

You'll love it, my best friend lives in Mesa and I go out to visit him all the time....and yes I have been there in July when it was that hot.

Dry heat huh? Sounds fun.

I think I will defenitly like it. Im getting pretty tired with the weather around Chicago. It won't make up it's damn mind.

Actually the hottest part seems to be June, once you get into July thats when the summer Monsoon storms begin to fire up. July through September-ish its around 100-110 every day, but come October and November, you will LOVE it here. 70's every day, 40's or 50's at night, so the "meet season" is year-round, actually busier in the winter than the summer.

You know, after it reaches a certain high, it doesn't matter anymore cause it's f*ckin HOT!

I love when people say, " well its a dry heat." Hot is HOT lol. I grew up in WI where it is pretty humid and have lived in AZ for two years now. Anyway like Bobby said, you will love it in AZ during the winter months!

I don't know if I will be there for the winter months. My schooling is only a 2 month certification program. I would love to stay, but will have my fiance back in chicago. Unless hse wants to come out!!

Hi TJ, welcome to AZ when you get here. If you don't mind the dry heat, then you will love it!

Its good to see more people coming out here.

This may be a long shot but is anyone looking for a room mate? It would only be for about two months. Will pay rent. PM please.

In Tempe? I'd offer up a room, but I don't think my wife would go for that  It's also about an hour + drive to Tempe, pending traffic ;)

My suggestion: look at the overall Phoenix area on googlemaps. Unless you enjoy being tortured, don't pick an area that is too far from any *real* freeway -- this excludes the 303. So with Surprise, unless you have a job lined up that is relatively close to that area, I would suggest looking elsewhere.... I mentally kill at least 100 people every time I have to drive there.

Because of how much traffic sucks here, it's been about 10 years since I've lived more than 7 minutes from a freeway. My current home (and my prior 2 apartments) were within 2-5 minutes of a freeway. As a reference.. it would take about 30-45 minutes on surface streets to get from Surprise to the 101 freeway.

I would say either in Glendale or Peoria would work for you guys. Its kinda in between Surprise and downtown PHX so unless you only have one car and have to share, I would say that would be the best of both worlds.

I'm pretty sure that Youngtown is a retirement community, like Sun City. Is that what you're after? Any others know otherwise about that city?

Come out to Surprise!

Youngtown is a retirement community, so is Sun City & Sun City West. Don't move to El Mirage either. Glendale is nice and Peoria is nice, when I first got here I went to a ghetto part of Peoria and didn't understand all the commotion about the place

Anyways, there is a really nice one story house, 2 houses down from me that is for rent. You can most likely talk them down since the previous renters moved out almost 2 months ago. I is really nice, decked out kitchen (Granit Counter tops, tile flooring throughout)

can you get me a number to someone there? i found a condo in peoria on 107th ave between northern and olive streets, is that an ok area? she said she will hold the place for me until june 1st....so if you can get me a number i would really appreciate that....

Taking a look at it on Google Earth, it looks like a decent area. There's a golf course right in there, and those communities are usually less-apt to be a "poor" neighborhood. There is more likelyhood of an HOA which may cause some headaches, but if you can put up with a few "restrictions" (keep the lawn mowed, no engine swaps in the parking lot, etc) they are usually more comfortable to live in.

haa i k i live in a condo now and the only maintenance "allowed" on vehicles are tires changes not even a car wash is allowed.....but that doesn't stop me i am doing my svt lite upgrade today in the parking lot so oh well. i lowered my car in the parking lot too fuel filter plugs wires all that stuff here no one said anything...hope its the same out there...or one of you guys have a big garage

Update:
I now have a place to live in the Tempe area. I'm not sure of the city but I'm told it's about 20 minutes out from Phoenix. I'll be living with one of my Dad's really good friends. Which will save me a ton of money by not renting an apartment, or staying in an extended stay hotel. So that means more money for my CSVT! (new exhaust, rims, etc........)
But seriously, I look forward to meeting all of you in the Phoenix area, and attending as many meets/cruises as possible!!! I should have a computer so i will let all of you know when I gte out there!!!

If its in the Tempe area, then it could be Chandler, Ahwatukee, Tempe, Mesa, or Scottsdale.

Chandler, that's the one. About how far from your buddy that does the tinting is that? And I asked on CEG but got no reply, does it matter what % tint I wanted? Or does he just charge by the window?

I will no longer be making the move down to AZ. A family emergency is forcing me to withdraw on my original plans. Maybe in a few months I'll be able to follow up on them.
