I have a quick question about the layout of the forum. This is the only forum ive ever seen use a backwards layout than what most forums use. Like when you click on a thread it takes you to the page the most recent reply is on. So like page 4 would contain the origianl post, and page one would be the most recent replies. Every other forum ive ever used is exactly opposite of this, and I was just wondering is there a reason its setup like that? I mean, i dont have a huge problem with it, I just find it annoying because I click on a thread and I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to read the posters topic.

Check out the options menu under the User CP - you should see a drop-down menu for "thread display mode" or something along those lines.

of all the ones I visit, this is the only one I can change to display newest first (but the others have a button for "go to first unread").

The down arrow next to the thread title in the forum view takes you to the first unread message... unless you haven't looked at that topic for more than two weeks (or something), then it takes you to the first message in the topic even though it still remembers where you were (watch the icons in the messages - it knows which ones you've read).

I find this site lacks in that respect. It DOES send you to the last post you haven't read, but if there are pics on the page (e.g., sigs), then the page gets "pushed" down because of all the pics loading and then you lose your place. I spend most of my time on CEG and they don't have this problem. It directs you to the last post "twice." Once when you first click on it, and then once again after all the pics load.

This is a flaw in how browsers work. CEG probably uses a little Javascript to cause that second jump, but it's a workaround; the real fix is in making the browsers work correctly. (Good luck, I know...)

only time I've found that to be an issue is when browsing from my phone. otherwise, it all seems to work here as I would expect

but 'most' of my browsing here is in subscribed threads, so 'typically' between visits, there are only a couple new replies.

Ya know, after over 1000 posts and a year on these forums I just learned today what that blue arrow was for. I love it. LOL

What theres no directions for this thing ya know. LOL and my threads read backwards.. like when somebody does the ^^ to point to a post there point to nothing or pointing to something that was there after they pointed LOL.
