They are better than stock, completely brand new with absolutely no rebuilt parts like most other axles. And they have been proven to hold up to power and abuse just fine. They also come with a limited lifetime warranty unlike most other axles.
And for the price you can't go wrong ;)

glad to hear they are in stock, going to pick up a spare set for the mtx [driver side was out of stock last time].
anyways I got one set last time and they are really nice parts... you look at it and you keep saying: theres no way they can sell these for only 65 bucks. And yes they definitely look beefier than the stock ones.

how much of a task is it to swap these for the stock ones?

It's not too bad, but I wouldn't do it unless I needed to (i.e., a bad CV joint or something). Figure a couple hours to do it. Aside from usual shop tools, you do need a way to remove the axle nut (I forget the size), a slide hammer is nice to remove the halfshaft but not entirely necessary, and a spring compressor makes putting it back together easier. Also note that if you do the driver's side you will drain the transaxle - one way or another.

thanks for the reply.
i had to take my contour in to have the cv joint replaced(michigan roads are hell....so its a matter of time for the cougar)
so i just would rather save my money and do it myself.
i might pick some up even though i dont need em right now, i cant pass up the price. and it will pay to have em on hand.

The axle nut is 32mm just for reference

To get the axle nut off if you don't have air tools use a breaker bar and have someone hold the brakes.
If you have the car evenly lifted in the front you would hardly loose any trans fluid if any at all. Not enough to matter at least. If you don't have the front of the car even then yea you will loose alot. So save the hassle and lift both sides of the car.
