View Full Version : New headunit installed - Pioneer Avic-D3

This thing rocks. GPS, XM and Sirius ready, IPod ready, aux inputs, XM Navtraffic, CD/DVD/MP3, custom backgrounds and colors, Bluetooth capable, and a million more features.
I've been watching it for awhile now, but at the normal price of around a grand it was tough to justify. Best Buy had it on sale for 699 though, so I jumped on it.
The install was....interesting. You need an 01/02 style dash shroud with the more square opening to fit a double din unit in there, and quite a bit of dremeling is still required. It is a TIGHT fit...this thing isn't going anywhere.

Very nice dude, thats a killer price!
But it looks like you have a problem with the install..
Those leather seats..they don't match the new HU at all.
I think we should trade. ;)

Thanks, and at least. There are RGB controls for the button colors, or you can do a scan that cycles through fading them from one color to another.

Looks sick wade, I just picked up a N4(poo on only a single din in the speed:disgust:) for a steal. Now I want to get mine installed too...Does yours have built in bluetooth or does it need an adapter?

Looks nice and clean. Im starting to get impatient waiting for the DEH-P700BT to be released. My stock head has a short where if i hit a bump it cuts out.

Haha...yup. And I probably said the ONLY pioneer I'd ever buy would be the Avic-D3...lol.
That HU was one of my choices to go in my cougar...
but im going with something else. :)

Hey man, I don't know if you looked into this or not, but Pioneer is offering a $200 mail in rebate on that head unit right now, if you purchased it from an "authorized Pioneer or Pioneer Premier Dealer".
I'm not for sure, but I would guess Best Buy is an authorized dealer. The unit must've been purchased between Feb 1 and April 30, and the info can be found here:

I was looking at that deck too. Looks great in there! I am going with the Eclipse AVN6620 because it has dual DVD. I can have navigation up front and video going in the back if i choose. Or a CD playing with the navigation going. Plus you get that great pre-out voltage from the eclipse decks.

Thanks! I got your PM too, and printed off the form. I was all excited until I saw the fine print at the bottom that reads:
This mail-in rebate offer is not valid at the following stores: Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, etc, etc...

Very Nice Install! I have the N4 and love it but had to modify my dash so the screen could flip out without any interference from the dash where the HVAC controls are (will post pics soon) oh and wade kudos on the XM station Squizz is awesome i have it on all the time.

It was originally Crispy's, then Predator bought her car and had it. And I got it from him. It needs to be redone though :(
