I finally pushed the car out of the garage to take some photos. As you can tell from the shots the car is all there, just a bit rough around the edges. By the way, I think the hodd opening has been cut back about an inch to let in more air. What do you guys think?
Enjoy.
Eric
p.s. in the background of a couple of shots, you can see my other cat,.

Looks great!!
Wouldnt the shorter hood create a weird gap above the headlights?

Wow, 3 responses in 10 minutes. Don't any of you guys work, LOL.
Yes the shorter hood does creat a weird gap between the headlights. I am checking right now with the original builders to see if they did it to relieve a cooling issue or if it was done up here to relieve a cooling issue or repair crash damage.
The car is a 2.5l and the Kinetic motor is supposed to make over 300 hp at 8100 rpm. The spare about 260 hp at 7500 rpm.
The heads do say 2.5L/3.0L in the castings, so I don't know what motor the head came from.

Hey Eric, lemmie know if you are still looking for a hatch. I talked to some guys I know and they have 2 available, $100 each. There's no spoiler (but the holes are there). Not sure if that includes glass, but for $100 you can't go wrong :)
They are located in London, so it's not even that bad a trip.

Man, I want one. What do I need to do to get one. White would be great, LOL. Could you see if they have a hood as well? I just checked on mine and somebody cropped an inch off the leading edge, :banghead:.
Thanks a bunch.

No hoods that I can remember. You might want to leave the hood as is. For some reason I feel that they cut it out for cooling. Looking at the pic the front headers are not heat coated OR header wrapped and I saw Leo's get RED hot once, so it could be for some degree of cooling.
Both of the hatches are red. I swear to god I have not seen a cougar in the wreckers that isn't black, red, or silver lol....but I might be able to find you a hood at Bakers....I was just there today getting a mirror for a Saturn, the hoods aren't very cheap though.

Can you run a FG hood in the class you want to enter? Might be better than a heavy stock hood.
Dan, I haven't seen any Cougars in the scrap yards around here. I wish i found a red one. :(

There are 2 cougars here at once place that are stripped of allmost everything (red) accept exterior parts. The Black and silver ones at the other place are fine, but most of the interior is gone. The place they are at isn't cheap either. If you need anything Mark lemmie know.

Hamill, the steel hood I have now is very, very light. I expect it is lighter than a glass hood. I can lighten another hood to the same level with some work and it is more durable than the glass hood.
Regarding the hatches, where do I have to go and when. I am traveling a bit in the next few weeks and would like to work out my schedule.

Eric

Eric, I was chatting with the guy on the phone so I will physically GO there this week and confirm the condition and price. Then I'll take pics and you can make your decision. Morst case scenario, you send me the $ and I'll grab them and throw them in my dads backyard, then you can get them whenever you want lol

Thanks again for your troubles. Just let me know and we will work it out. My job is flexible enough that I can shoot down to London most any time I am not out of town. Next week I am in Montreal for 2 days, the week after I have to travel to BC for the week (I need to look into the Cobra R that I race when they need me, LOL) and the week after that I am at a conference in Niagara Falls.
That is why I would like to get this decklid soon, next week is my only free time for the next 3 weeks.

I have been a co-driver in this car since 2001, along with Tony Morris JR. and Peter Baljet from Vancouver Island. It is owned and driven by Tim Brown of Brown Bros Ford in Vancouver. The car has been a cover car in a number of US based Mustang Magazines. We have run the 8 Hour Cascade Enduro with the car a number of times and have one the P1 Class with a 3rd overall in 2005. We have also run the 4 Hour races at Pacific Raceways 2 times. As well we ran the 25 Hours of Thunderhill (back when it was 12 hours) and broke the rotors off the rear after 2 hours. As well the car has run 2 Speed WC races and a number of regionals. The car is bullit fast and at Portland we are pulling close to 300 kmh going into turn 1. It is running on ALMS Corvette Michelin Slicks and has been heavily modified. Yes it is one of only 4 Cobra R's that came into Canada, but the owner has another stock one and a new Ford GT as well to play with.
The car is a beast with heavy engine mods, drivetrain mods and body mods. The driving position has been moved back almost a foot. It is a privilege to race it and I treasure each minute. Though the rain in 2005 where I had to do 170 mph on slicks at night, was not too much fun,.
Here are some shots. I am driving the car in the last 2 shots. I have a ton more but I would need to dig them up from some discs I have.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is Cougarfest 2008? Where is it held and when. You have to remember that this car is a racecar and I have to tow it everywhere. With fuel costs and my 460 F250 getting 8 mpg I am usually pretty cautious about where I travel to. The Cougar is also not great fun to just drive around in. The 7 lb flywheel and Quartermaster triple plate clutch setup are easy to burn out just idling around. As well the steering needs a ton of work as well. Let me know the details and we will see.
I have a ton of work to do on the car and I am looking to have the car ready by mid to the end of June. I will be out at some test days first to get the hang of things, then enter some races.

cougarfest is a yearly gathering of all the cougar new/old/past owners that have a huge weekend meet, car show. there is sometimes drag, auto x and other events. Cougarfest this year is being held in Indy.
a lot of us would just love to look at it , sit in it, crawl around it and see all the custom mods done to it that we can only dream of being able to duplicate and espically listen to her purrrrrrrrr.
that r is

I understand, but I won't be able to go as that is the same weekend as the CCTCC race at the new Mirabel track just north of Montreal. I have already promised a sponsor that I will be at that event. Sorry.
On a different note, the Cougar doesn't purr.......it gives off blood curdling howls,.
I will try this weekend to take some video so that you guys can hear it. It really is something to behold.
Eric
I was lucky enough to see Leo Capaldi race his Cougar back in the day at Mosport
He let us all in to his garage/pit area and started the car for a few minutes... it was deafening!
I loved it.

Hey Eric,
I just wanted to let you know I wasn't able to get out there on Thursday, my dads basement flooded (water heater exploded sometime in the morning) and my old bedroom was there meaning ALOT of damaged stuff and having to be moved (as it also hit our storage room and work room). I'll get out there Sunday and let you know.

Thanks a lot. Dave and I spent a ton of time on Sunday banging on the one that came with the car. We have it almost usable!!!! A little bondo and a spray and it should be okay.
I still need another one as a spare, so after you go out let me know if any are still there and in decent shape. I appreciate your issues, so no hurry as we can move ahead with the one we have.
Thanks for you assistance,
Eric
