Any of you home modders got any suggestions as what to do with the gear selection indicator? Mine is all faded and look horrible(the orange). I'm slowly redoing my interior, and this is just another tiny stop on my road to a more eye friendly interior.

PS - Anybody had an issue with the windshile defroster vent thingy popping up out of place? i can't get it to stay in plave to save my life!:banghead:

Yeah, i posted a thread about new shifter options. I was wantingto replace all the button/knob lighting in the car with like a blue light, I can do all that I guess when I pull my interior out to have it paint-matched with the outside.

Try double sided tape for the vent...unless you want to pay the outrageous price a dealer will charge to fix it. My local wanted to charge me $150 to do it on my old '00. A mechanic said to try the tape but I never got around to it. Don't have to worry about it anymore since my 02 doesn't have the problem.

I saw a supra at supraforums.com that had redone all the interior lighting with blue LED, looks like newer VW's, and I was wondering if anybody here has pulled out the dash and tried this for the cougar.

SEARCH dude, the info is out there. I'm surprised you haven't gotten flamed yet for asking questions that have already been answered elsewhere.

no, seriously... he's right - dozens and dozens of people have changed the led colors... I believe the how-to for it was written 8 years ago.

First search before anymore post because all of these I know I have read stuff on.

You can use a plastic adhesive for the winshield defroster. Then tape it down and let it dry.

As for the gear selection indicator are you refering to gauge cluster? If so try speedhut.com.

No, the PRND21 indicator on the ATX center console.

I accidentally erased the letters on mine when I tried to remove the green paint  now have to repaint them in, you can easily repaint the orange part

I wanted to just pull it out, and throw in a small blue LED, I don't know, I'm busy with the "warning: fjmckeever" thread in transaction feedback, go take a look at whats going on here, it's quite the mess, to say the least.

for the defroster vent, as MANY threads in the past have said - you need to have it 100% centered front to back & side to side to have it stay snapped down - if the tabs have warped at all, a little clear silicone adhesive at the end will hold it down.
