So I just bought a 2002 Cougar and the first thing I noticed when jacking it up to put my rims on was that there was something missing, but I couldnt figure out what... Then I realized it was the rear splash shield on both sides were removed. Only problem is I can't find the part number on teamfordparts or even on Car-parts... So where the hell can you buy them??

Does anybody have a pair they want to sell me? I didn't even know the Cougar had rear splash shields or am I just loosing my mind??

Any junkyards you think carry them?

Yes the plastic shroud that fits in the rear wheel wells. Just like the front fender wheel well splash gaurd, but only the rear ones.

Anyone parting out a Cougar that has this?

I have a set that I had to cut out a bit where it connects to the rear bumper....but other than that they will protect everything else. If they are still in the backyard you can have them for free. Just pick them up

Dont get them, they do nothing in the rear, i removed mine and they were holding in so much dirt were they created a rust spot i had to fix, leave them open so you can wash out the dirt, they protect nothing in the rear. Mine weighed about 5ilbs each or dirt and mud. best weight reduction i did, not to mention save about 10 minutes when removing the bumper. The worst part is if you have aftermarket bumpers they dont have screw holes in them so more work getting them to bolt up.

hmm mine actually stop the back wheels from launching big rocks at the rear bumber and breaking it from the inside... i think i'll keep mine on and just spray the pressure hose under the the bumper..

^^^ then it will just hold water. If you removed your bumper right were it attaches to the 1/4 there's usually rust, its b/c the splash guard holds dirt and water there. and a rock shooting from your tire aint going to break your poly bumper.

I noticed a difference between having them and not having them on yesterday when it was pouring with rain... Without them on you can really hear the water spray up into the wheel well, but with them in it cuts the noise out more because the water isn't spraying against the metal. I still want to put them in.
