View Full Version : Monster 3L Dyno
NVS SVT

Well I finally got to dyno my 3L SVT. Mods are 03 Escape 3L, Weapon R Headers and Y-Pipe, SVT Cam, 3L UIM/LIM, 42lb Injectors, stock intake tube with K&N Filter, CTA Exhaust.
My Black 17's were put on the car as the 19's wont be going back on until the weather gets better. Once I get the 04 UIM and NPG CAI in 2 weeks or so I will be going back to the dyno to see my gains.
Numbers were:
212.41hp and 196.45tq
215.40hp and 199.42tq
216.70hp and 198.39tq
*Note this is my base tune and more tuning will be done eventually*
This motor was built and tuned by Nima (96BlackSE). He has done a fantastic job with this car and I am very pleased.

42# injectors on a N/A engine? Why?

42# injectors on a N/A engine? Why?
1) I like to go overkill on things
2) I only paid a $100
3) I have a Venom VCN2000 and an NPG Turbo kit sitting here :).

I still get close to 500km on a full tank of gas so I am not complaining. I only like to do things once and don't want to have to take out the 19lb injectors to swap to bigger injectors when I put more horsepower in the car.

1.) Bad answer
2.) Ok answer
3.) DING DING DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!
As far as mileage goes . . . assuming the tune is good, the 42# injectors should be dumping the PROPER amount in to the engine, so it doesn't matter.

Bad answer or not it's true lol. I dont even think I will be using any of the kits on this car anyways ( I tend not to keep things long). I would say the tune is good my A/F is 11.4, I will be doing more tuning at a later date.
Aaron
As long as the proper injector constant is programmed into the ECU, it doesn't matter what size you put in (short of anything smaller than 17#ers).

are u on CEG or FCo. nice numbers. cant wait to see the npg kit installed. those are nice numbers for a full 3L. i wanna say the highest. but then again you are using the svt cams.

SVT SNOB on CEG, thanks and I am 99% sure my full 3L with 3L cams was faster than this one I currently have. I actually prefer my 3L cams and would change back in a heartbeat if I could!

I'm starting to think that Ontario NECO/CEG has more 3L or power adder cars than any other chapter. We have like 25 members, 4 with 3L's, 3 with power adders.

I think there is an SVTOA one coming up soon. Hopefully I can attend and I plan to let Evan and Fern take my SVT on the track.

Now I really don't know what to do.I've got svt cams ,01+ 2.5 heads and a 04 escape engine on it's way soon but now I'm wondering if I should just use the modded LIM and leave the rest of the engine alone. All these different opinions are confusing since i've never even driven a vehicle with a 3.0L and never got the feel of one.

If you arn't in the throttle much and like passing power, etc.. 3L cams may be for you. If you are after track performance, the SVT cams may be for you (no they're not ideal in a shared port but there is no other cheap alternative to high performance camshafts and do work well).
Bottom line, twin port intakes on twin port heads and vice versa for oval. 3L intakes on 3L engines.

Thanks for your input.I was forgetting that I will be using split port manifolds so svt cams will be more suitable from what I read.I haven't decided about the heads though. The higher CR sounds nice but is it really worth the work is what I'm wondering since 3.0L's are already 10:1 with oval heads.

It shouldn't matter which port style you use SVT cams with when not using the 2.5L UIM (like you shouldn't unless properly modified, which raises more issues anyway).
The twin port Taurus UIM no longer has the bifurcation between runners so it is a shared port but still allows the use of the IMRC for lowspeed cylinder filling. So there really is no benefit as far as dual runner acoustical tuning either way unless you use the 2.5L UIM (which is inadequete).
Hybrids have a fouled up combustion chamber and could use some work but the return may not be practical for the amount invested. The higher CR can work against you at high engine speeds and puts more stress on parts.
I'd just as well use a late model engine unless you want to spend the money for an electric water pump and still use the twin ports with IMRC.

I like your post #19 in the intake test results thread.
I'm doing this swap next winter so I have plenty of time to make up
my mind.
