Ok So i just turned 16 and got my 2002 cougar. base v-6. I've done some minor interior work and added some subs and amp and so forth. I NEED HELP. Its sad that out of everyone in my family i know the most and i have big plans for this car. I really want my tail lights to be black. (can't find pieces) i cant find a chip for my car to help proformance. Which cold air intake is the best? Is it even possible to put a turbo on this car? (its an automatic) Anybody have any ideas what pieces i need to redo my exhaust? muffler? Most of the other cosmetic stuff i can handle except, has anyone bought a body kit? and from wear? Thanks so much.
Sigh... Can i say use the SEARCH BUTTON? There are few exhaust systems for our cars, with the intake you would have to go custom or pay an amount(don't remember how much) for a kit that is being sold by someone in this forum, look for that too. Turbo? sure.
Has anyone bought a body kit? No everyone in this forum have stock body... LOL wtf?

Tail lights - Search for a product called Night shade. Its a Tint for the tail lights or what ever else clear plastic you can use it on.
Most intakes are similar, its more so about what name you want.
k&n, injen, weapon r
My suggestion, just go to autozone and make your own.
For your exhaust check out Trubendz.com
For your body kit I'd check out KKO Inc. |Body Kits|HID Kits|Halo Head Lights|LED Tail Lights - KKO (http://www.krazykustomzonline.com/)
And yes the car can be turbo'd.. look in the forced induction for more detail.

I feel remembered
Poor ol' vix.
Like everyone else is saying, you'd probably save money searching for intake kits on ebay or taking a trip to autozone... Only thing with the autozone I go to, they don't have tubes that would fit in our cars... Maybe your autozone is different though... Give it a try.
Of course AEM, WeaponR and some other intake manufacturers should still make them for our cars... Not sure, but just check out their sites.
As for if one intake system is better than the other, you can't tell by just looking. You kind of have to take word from whoever has developed it since most of us don't have a "flowbench" or other tools to see how smooth air flows through each pipe, how restrictive the air filter is etc...
Also some manufacturers make the intake kits in different colors which may appeal to you. Look for this as well if you are doing a theme in your engine...

I think the Vortech supercharger kit is designed for ATX so if you wanted to go FI there's always that route. Welcome to NECO, good choice for your first car!

No offense to the new guy, but I'd say buy a CAI kit, and do not try and build your own. He said he's 16, and this is most likely the first modded car he's done, just throwing together an intake (one of the key pieces of your performance chain) is not recommended. Buy a short-ram setup from any of the name brand companies, and look around here for the various CAI extension setups that people sell.
Make sure to get a good filter, and read a lot of posts on the various problems people have had with the install. Research first, and it'll be easy for you to install. =) And it's one of the most fun mods, especially before an exhaust since you can REALLY hear the air sucking, lol...
TruBendz is the best place for an exhaust, or you can go to any local shop and have them build a custom cat-back setup for you. Just whatever you do, don't just add a muffler and call it good. That's the ricer way of things and adds nothing but sound. (Bad sound, at that.)
As for a chip, don't do it until you're done with performance mods. Custom tunes are the best, but they only work WITH your mods -- it's one of the final things you should do.
Check out Andy's Autosport for kits -- they have quite a good selection for our car. You can mix and match pieces, however I suggest you look around the photos section, or Cougarfest pics to get an idea of the various kit combos you can do. I spent a year piecing kits together before I decided on my setup, and I've never been happier.
And in the end, as a new guy you'll need to learn to take some of the responses with some thick skin. If you research yourself first a bit and ask smart questions, you'll get great answers, if you just post a bunch of random stuff in a single thread you'll get crap responses like Vix gave you... =)

WELCOME!!!!!!! regarding ur taillights soon in the future ill be doing a tinted taillights group buy, (link to the lights - http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/7659/064yr4.jpg )
you might be interested in that, or you said peices so maybe u mean taillight covers ( kinda pricey but - 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar - Vtech Rear Tail Light Cover (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQMercuryQQCougarQQVtechQQTail_Light_CoverQQ199920 02QQV1622225.html) )
check out the For Sale section every now and then, ive seen chips go in there for very cheap and usually they give u all the info u need about the chip
and on the topic of CAI's go with this one, it will be the cheapest you can find and it includes a K&N filter, when i bought my SRI i bought the filter seperate and it was almost 70 dollars so this is a fantastic deal ( Cold-Air System V6 Duratecs (http://www.nautilusperformance.com/catalog/i26.html) )
you can put a turbo on it but with the automatic tranny it might not hold up so well with all that power, if your truly passionate about your future with the cougar id suggest (learning to drive stick if you dont know how) and consider getting a ATX - MTX swap, then possibly move up to a 3L, or even just turbo the 2.5 nautilus has a turbo kit thats pretty nice for the 2.5 ( Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique V6 (http://www.nautilusperformance.com/id54.html) )
for the exhaust i suggest a truebendz with either a borla magnaflow or flowmaster, atleast thats what most ppl here have if you go for the exhaust go ahead and get some headers too from MSDS (easy enough bolt ons that add a lot) (exhaust - TruBendz Technology Exhaust | Intake (http://www.trubendz.com/home.asp?producttype=exhaust&productfor=cougar&pagetype=main7) Headers - MSDS Inc. - Exhaust Systems (http://www.msdsinc.com/exhaust_1.htm) )
and get your body kit here, talk to them and they will usually give you a fantastic deal and they have high quality and great products and they ship fast as hell lol ( KKO Inc. |Body Kits|HID Kits|Halo Head Lights|LED Tail Lights - KKO (http://www.krazykustomzonline.com/index.php) )
that should be all your main inquiries... im outtie look around and browse through these forums for more answers on stuff, and again Welcome :D
