My girlfriend and I were heading out to eat last night and were involved in a pretty bad car accident. We were sitting at a red light waiting to turn left onto another road (i was driving her car). The light goes green and start to go, and out of no where BOOM, we get slammed on the drivers side. It was out of no where and i was in such a shock.
My girlfriend got out of the car and i climbed out the passenger door. My girlfriend hit her head on the windshield, and acutally broke through it. She had a good sized lump already and was pretty scratched up. We sat on the sidewalk, and i calmed her down as we waited for the ambulance.
There were a couple witnesses saying they saw the guy run the red light but i was so flustered i didnt get anyones info. I'm sure the cops did, or at least i hope so.
We went to the emergency room and were there until about 3am. We both checked out OK, luckily. I'm so glad she is ok, i dont know what i'd do without her. And before anyone asks, we were not wearing out seatbelts. We made a promise to eachother that we will from now on. The airbags were a big help, you'll see what i mean in the pics.

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but you get the idea. In person the car looks a lot worse, theres alot more damage than just the dents you see in the pics.

HOT DAMN!
definitely good to hear you are both ok.
Did the cop say anything about you guys not wearing your seatbelts? It's illegal to drive without them in MA, isn't it?

wow.. i can honestly say I know what if feels like to send your head through a windshield.. IT didn't hurt bad the first day.. the following two weeks were MISERABLE!!!.
I hope you guys end up being ok after the pain heals.. my wreck was the last time I didn't wear a seat belt too.

Glad to hear you guys are both okay.
But I'm a little confused. You were making a left and a guy ran the red light and hit the side of your car? Or was he coming from the opposite direction and you made the left in front of him. Because if he hit you from the side your GF head wouldn't of hit the windshield and the air bags wouldn't go off. Air bags only go off in a frontal collision. Unless it was a side airbag. But still the only way your head goes through the windshield is if you are traveling forward and suddenly stop, like in a head on collision.
But that still doesn't explain how you got all the damage on the drivers side. I just don't get it.

we were in the middle of the intersection about to take a left and the guy ran a red light and hit us on the side. The driver and passenger airbags went off and thats where she hit her head. There is no damage to the front of the car, only the side. Dont know why the airbags went off but i'm glad they did.

I often forget how dangerous driving is myself and forget the seatbelt prob 23% of the time. I guess it is a lesson well learned, and I should really learn myself before the same happens to me. Good to see you two walked away ok. I can't believe how some jerks will leave the scene when somebody could be seriously hurt. They should automatically charge people who do that with dui b/c 86.5% of the time that is why they flee.

It's just a rough estimate I'm sure. Chill man.
I'm glad you and your girlfriend are ok. I really don't understand why people don't wear seatbelts. I don't even notice that I'm wearing one, it's just automatic. Actually, I didn't wear one driving to the opposite side of a building the other day and I felt really weird.

Oh man, SO glad to hear you are both OK!
I hear you when you said you don't know what you would do without your GF.
Jeez, I don't know what I'd do right now, if I lost another friend! again, SO very glad to hear you walked away from that.
Let me know if you need anything man! :)

Wow that sucks, but we're all glad to hear that you're OK! I've seen a large number of incidents recently where driver's have been running red lights :disgust:. This goes to show what happens when you can't wait that extra minute for the red .

Maybe it's just me, but I CANNOT drive a car without having a seatbelt on. Even just backing the car up in the laneway (not going onto a road) I allways put my belt on just beacuse it feels weird without it. Maybe it's how I drive or something.
Glad to hear you both made it out allright. I knew a girl back in high school who died in a car accident similar to what you described....only she died because she made it all the way through the windshield and broke her neck.

Well, i still havent got the police report so i havent found out who they found at fault. I'm going to be one unhappy camper if they dont find this 100% his fault. The appraiser said the car was a total loss, and if all goes well my girlfriend will be getting a check for 9492$.
As for some better news... i just got the cougar out of the body shop and its looking great. :)

WOW, that's a nice chunk of change to get into a newer car! Too bad you had to go through what you did to get it...:(
Are you still feeling OK, or did you start aching the day after?

Awesome!, now go get it inspected, drop the 3L in it, and have some fun!
And when you are done with that exhaust and y-pipe, swing it over my way! Gonna have to get the Cougar inspected without the Vortech installed I think... SVT ECU, 3L, stock svt injectors, headers/MILs, stock exhaust and y-pipe... hopefully I'll pass, and then I can swap the Injectors out, bolt on my full exhaust, and slap the SC on there!
UNLESS, someone can assist me with info on how I can pass with the Vortech and all the other goodies i have, here in MA ???
I figured with a good tune, and near perfect A/F ratio, it might pass emissions thru the OBD-II system, as its just plug-in, no sniffer... especially if the exhaust is stock and it doesn't sound loud... Any thoughts?
Sorry Andrew, didn't mean to hi-jack this thread... kinda went on a tangent there! :)

First things first, glad to hear you guys are ok and that things will eventually get straightened out. Hopefully you don't have this happen to you again. Secondly, Greg move to CT and register your vehicle as a composite...you guys in mass are all fu$ked.

She actually already got a new car, the next day! haha its a 2000 toyota solara with 65k on it. I just got back from inspection and i passed, but he said he could still smell the exhaust quite a bit, so i think for the sniffer test next year i'll throw on the stock cat too.

NICE! Glad to hear you passed! You shouldn't have a sniffer test though... just OBD-II plug in because it is newer than 1996.
As long as your emissions systems read ready, and you don't have a CEL, you should pass. What y-pipe did you have on there?

I bought the trubendz y-pipe with removable hi-flow cat and test pipe. I could have sworn my car got put on the sniffer last year? i could be wrong, hopefully it is just a plug in.
