so today i drove this
http://www.bobyoakford.com/SHELBY1.JPG

i went way out to some low traffic highways andopened it up!!! i went 135 in fourth gear he said hes had it up to boout 150 but this one cop kept popping up arg
it was so really fast and loud i loved it
but the short shifter was relly stiff is that how they are when you put them in our car?

i liked the touchy brakes though very sensitive, same with the gas pedal, very touchy, to much and bye bye traction

Im guessing this 135 wasnt anywhere near a track :disgust:

Not very smart...

mercury2
03-09-2008, 12:38 AM
actually it was near a track, las vegas motor speedway wasnt anymore than 5 min awayy aggaga just not on a track

i know but, there was no traffic, a straight long road, and over 320hp at my foot, couldnt resist

how could anyone resist, its not like i was in town or anything but whatever

Your friend is f-ing  I would NEVER let a 15 year old with a PERMIT for God's sake drive my car, let alone letting you drive a Shelby Mustang at triple digits

I am sure it was hella fun though. It's just super sketchy to drive that fast, especially since you've been driving for such a short period of time.

mercury2
03-09-2008, 04:20 AM
well some people are cool, and understand that i dont drive like i started yesterday, i can drive a mtx damn good esp when i wanna go fast
and it wasnt sketchy, it held nice, its got a good stiff suspension, when i started slowing down, of course i felt a stability loss but not muc, and very easy to get to those speeds, :D

you sir...

fail.
15, with nothing but a permit, and driving that fast is one of the stupidest things i have ever heard in my entire life.

Not to mention the fact that you werent on a track, and on a public road, and the excuse of "oh there wasnt anybody there" doesnt cut it with me, you were on public roads, that have a speed limit... end of story. Your friend should give the dealer back his car before he lets one of his other teenage friends destroy it.

And unless you have an actual picture with you and your friend next to this mustang, instead of a picture of one from a dealership, this story in my opinion is a complete fake and nothing but you trying to make your "E-penis" bigger.

and i really dont give a **** about what you think about it being dangerous, people do dangerous ****, everytime you get in a car you put yourself at risk. What is life if you dont take risks?
and i also dont give a **** if you all dont believe me cuz i know that i did. so if you all want to be gay and be like its not true blah blah blah then go ahead cuz i no what i did and i dont care about your opinion.
why would i also post the same day asking if a short shifter makes it feel stiff
(search short shifter=stiff?) say how i drove a mustang and the short shifter felt stiff and tight and took a lil effort to get into first, cuz i would jsut ask a random ? like that saying the that it a short shifter on a mustang i have never drove feels stiff, yea wtf :gtfo:

Once you start going over 100 there isnt much in an average street car that can save you anymore! Which is why every single racer spends thousands of dollars on safety equipment for when they race.

Personally I dont care what you do in your car most of us here are just saying what you did was stupid and giving you a fair warning because at those speeds you have got well.... NO time to react one wrong move and you wont be able to recover and it will end ugly... for you... who ever is with you... and if you arent on a course... then it will be ugly for whoever you hit as well!!!

So before you hurt anyone or yourself think before drive..... you got your so called "thrill" and no one was hurt....... yet!!! Do everyone a Favor and dont test your luck again!

yes i understand, and dont insult me about my english, you act like this is some college essay and it should be written perfectly, its just a bunch of fast typing=ing typos, duh:disgust:.
im not trying to justify anything, i know it was dangerous and i took that risk with out much thought, no one is perfect, im alive and well, ill probably wont do it again in the near future, but not saying i wont some other day in my life.
it was fun and i dont regret it because nothing happened. Call it what you will, but whats done is done, i dont regret anything.
i do see where you are all coming from, and i understand my so called lack of experience. i get it, but the thing that pissed me off was people say oh this is funny, this isnt true, blah blah blah, that makes me mad not you all saying i shouldnt have done it or it wasnt a good decision
and alos calling me stupid makes me mad to:mad:

also please dont take this as trying to justify my "mistake" but truly it was a risk i took, and the also my parents and also my friend georges risk to do what we did. it was are lifes at risk no one elses, there was no one for miles. are intention was to do what i did, go fast, he knew, it wasnt like it was some random thing i decided to pull. it was a good experience ill never forget and once again i dont regret it.

end of story

First off
Reckless=marked by defiant disregard for danger or consequences
Going 130MPH is a disregard for danger so dont even try to play that BS card here.
Second there is a difference between you choose and accepting the risk of going 130 becasue it can effect other peoples like such as others on the road... where as a sky diver falling kills himself and thats kit.

well some people are cool, and understand that i dont drive like i started yesterday

Some people are cool just like this 16 year old kid outside of my work a week ago who lets his 16 year old girlfriend drive his car allowing her to smash into 3 cars in a parking lot Some cool people are f'in retards.
i can drive a mtx damn good esp when i wanna go fast

Yeah all teenagers know how to drive
for instance
my BF who wraped his civic around a pole TOTALED 50 MPH
another friend who wrecked his VR4 on the highway racing a 240 TOTALED 120MPH
another friend who wrecked his Mustange around a corner TOTALED 45 MPH
another mustang wreck racing a GTO BOTH TOTALED 110MPH
They were all half decent drivers
ok w/e
look here DUDE don't expect us on the board to sit here and give you a thumbs up. if you dont like what people have to say then don't post it up here it is that simply.

Now By no means am I an example with my past becasue I know that I have done some stupid things, but here is a question for ya...if you had a question about turboing your cougar or you had a problem with it....Would you come on the board and listen to an older member who has been down the road before and seen what can happen....the same applies with this ****. x2 to that... you are obviously trying to justify your mistakes and its not going to happen here. This is a car enthusiast forum (meaning people who care about their cars enough to keep them under control on the road), not a ricer board .

And mercury2, you obviously haven't learned a lesson and you do think you're a hot shot, because it looks like the first thing you did when you got home was get online to brag about it (and i'm not denying that it happened, i'm saying if it did, you're an idiot.)

Nobody is perfect and everyone gets experience with age and i can gaurentee at 18, i have much more experience than you. Why? Because i was just like you. I got away with so much s**t on the roads and it took me doing 87 in a 35 and getting arrested for it to learn my lesson. Breaking any law of any kind will be expensive in one way or another. You pull this recklessness s**t again and you'll either pay a hefty fine or a fine that can't be paid, your life, someone elses life, who knows... and even if you get off scotch free, you'll continue to push it and push it until you learn an even harder lesson. Again, i was very lucky to just get a ticket, even though it entirely ****ed up my financial stability for the next year or so, i could have lost my life.

so tell ya what, don't do it again, and if you try to respond to this thread in any other way that "i'm sorry" or "you're right, i am a dumb, unexperienced driver", i'll promise you, you WILL get flamed

oh and one more thing, to answer your question, no.
i don't have a short shifter, but i know that a gearbox is a gearbox. The cougars is decent, while i find the newer mustangs quite nice. Stiff and precise. A sts in cougar will still be a bit more... loose you could say?... getting from gear to gear, but its a shorter throw (hence the name).

well ok, i get what you are all saying, people make mistakes as some of you have admitted to. Ill try not to do it again, i guess i didnt think of all the possible dangers, i though on impulse, "straigh highway, no cars in sight, 320+ hp mustang shelby, permission from owner, GO FAST!!" just as many at my age would have done. I guess it wasntas "cool" as i thought it was at the moment, but it was fun, no doubt. I am a very responsible kid, but things like that can bring out the "worst" decisions,
not trying to say any one was wrong or right, i understand all of your points, im not trying to be "stupid" im probably smarter than most of you were at my age, not to be arrogant, but yea. i didnt think it would raise this much comotion, it was dumb now thinking about possible consequences.
im not apoligizing for doing what i did, but sorry if i came of in a manner of trying to justify what i did or say i was right, there was no intention of that. The fact that i had fun doing something that wasnt the smartest decision and getting away with it had me running on alot of impulse.

most of what everybody has been saying isnt that we think you are stupid as a person or whatever. Most of us have had a friend/family die or get injured in an accident because of speeding/driving reckless. (my cousin died, and almost me) Were mostly looking out for you and trying to get you to be safe on the road and not do it again when you get your license.

You are the proof that parents should not allow kids to drive cars with a lot of power.

You think you are invincible, yet you don't "think" at all. I was young once too, and I made a mistake once, and my friend and his car paid the price. I was driving a 164hp vehicle, and I was being cool and passed my friend. He then tired to pass me back got too close to a curve, was un able to stop, skid through a turn, went off the road, missed a few trees, came back onto the road, and flew across it slamming into a curb. Luckily he was fine, and luckily there were no other cars. He was going no faster than 50mph.

Wow... some old guy just posted a useless story...

Well I want you to know, that the next time you feel like driving like an idiot, make sure none of my friends or family are on the road. People like you, are the reason people die on the road every day.

Just remember an experienced driver can not compensate for the laws of physics, and for the rest of the word getting in a car's way... as posted already... animals, cracks in the road, dirt, rocks, tree limbs, people, etc can pop out of nowhere and at 130mph, you have no room to compensate and nothing to do but pray.

Good luck... I hope your state and parents your post and never allow you to get a license. :)

I used to be the same way as you man. If I could, I would go fast! But after numerous speeding tickets, and seeing what COULD have happened to me at those speeds, I just don't do it anymore. I find it just as thrilling to just punch it up to the posted speed limit in a fast car. For example: my aunt's new boyfriend just bought her a C5 Corvette, manual 6 speed. Around Thanksgiving, she let me take it out for a drive. I was tempted to just go balls to the wall, but I didn't. I still got to experiance the thrill of it just punching it through corners and up to the posted speed limit. She said to me, "you know, I trust you. You can REALLY test it if you want to." But I said to her, "you might trust me, but I don't. And I don't trust the other drivers on the road, nor all the things that COULD go wrong." I still had a **** ton of fun, and I didn't break any laws or put anyone in harm's way.
