Stop. Read every single thread in the 3.0 section, and read the stickies at the top of that section 7 times.

Yeah it's the Duratec V6...like i said i'm not mechanically inclined at all so all the engine talk i have no idea what they are talking about...lol. When i get the engine my friends brother is going to put it in for me...so is there more parts i have to buy with the engine or does it just drop right in

you should have your friends brother read all the stickies and posts on here and on CEG. No one is going to sit and type you a how-to. Its all explained already.

You need to do ALOT more research before even considering the swap.

No, it won't "swap right out". Determine what you can afford and what your budget is. If you don't know what you are doing, or you don't know some one that is familiar with the swap, send the car to some one that does.

Here's one bit of advice. Don't buy that 2000 engine.

Ditto, or take your car to one of the several people on here or CEG that will drop a 3L into your car.

If you can, just get the newer 04' engine. You get the better manifolding, PCV, and COP if he wants to use it.

i'm just wondering how your planning on explaining to the guy that's putting it in for you what to do if your not mechanically inclined? how are you gonna know what to explain? there's so much information thats been reworded over, and over through post after post that you should be able to find something. if your asking these basic of questions, you should probably reconsider having this done or just buy one thats ready to drop in. i knew almost nothing about working on the cougar or doing the 3L swap, but i did hours and hours of searching and reading to the point where i understood what things meant. if you can't understand it for yourself, how can you explain it to someone else? either show the guy the site and have him read, or go with a "drop-in 3L"
