Well this is tech. for my Miata but i thought about doing my Cougar as well. So i'm curious what kind of sandpaper i want to intially rough the seal on the plastic from the factory. Also what type of Paint Promoter, Type of Paint, and Clear i should use. And then what type of grit finishing sandpaper.

I have the interior parts out that i wish to paint, they consist of the Center Console, the Dash Cowl, and the bezel around the A/C Controls and radio.

I'm really also looking for how many coats of clear and how think the paint should be applied on as well. So pretty much an almost complete step-by step except you can leave off the intial sanding and promoter steps if you like.

i always start with 36 grit then 100, spray an adeheasive promoter, then 220, then prime with a filler primer, then wetsand with 220, prime again, wetsand 400, then i might spray with color, color sand that with 600 then up to 1000. color again, clear it, wetsand 1000 and clear again. after its cured buff and call it good.
