flat black shows every single defect as well so make sure your car is 100% dent free and perfect or it will look like a55
BTW -- saw a slightly riced out 99/00 Silver Frost Coug tonight at Wal-Bag, Eastside Madison -- most likely a member here -- tail light covers, painted headlights w/no reflector, LED washer nozzles and a hatch with what looks like a huge aluminum wing missing minus the metal stantions.
Kinda looked like a stripped down, brought back to semi stock lookin version of that one kid that lived in Fondy.. the one who had the green graphics and then later the car got repo'd.
interesting find. License plate was 958MET I believe.

Flat black would be awesome. It looks so sick....But good luck on keeping it perfect.

Not just that, but that flat black ( as opposed to even a shiny gloss black ) will be MURDER to keep clean. The smallest imperfection or speck of dirt will stick out like a sore thumb. To keep it looking good you'd basically have to wash it twice a day and leave it in the garage. :)

im just doing the black on my back, roof, and hood and i gotta say the flat is really not my style.. =\ the gloss finish really changes the car

well idk id try considering some more options, see what else you can come up with.. photoshop really helps on deciding on things like these, if nothing else sticks or youre that huge of a fan of the flat black then by all means go ahead im sure it would look nicer than most people think...

I can't find any pictures of it, but I know there was someone in Ohio who had a "flat black monster" Cougar as he referred to it. It looked ricey as all ****. I would strongly advise NOT doing it.

personally I've been a big fan of the flat black and have been on edge about doing it for about 5 years now.
heres the thing you need to keep in mind. Flat black was all the rage last year. Your going to be copying the trend that is just starting to go out of style.
its one of those things, you walk a fine line between it being done really well, and looking like a botched amature job of spraypaint.

1. New tranny with all other goodies is in the car already ...
2. engine, i need other parts from the svt engine.
3. I havent found a decent subaru yet.. not just gonna buy any subaru around the block ?!?!?
4. Paint job, is just do to the fact that half the car is already in primer.
5. I didnt know it was wrong to rethink selling my car ? I guess i've sinned or something.. Or maybe i need your permission to not sell it. Or i should just hire you to make my choice's for me since you apparently know what i do and have done.?!?
so therefore wat you've claimed me as talking **** up ? i've actually... umm, said wat i have done..
I beleave the only thing i've claimed and have some what giving up is building a rwd cougar.. im pretty sure thats the onlything you can remotely say i've claimed/

Flat black works if the whole "package" is done right. I'm always the first to admit my car looks like ass right now, but once I get all the little stuff done, IMO it will fit perfect. Its all in how you present it. Good luck, I'm hoping to have mine all done in the next couple months.

Bobby's car looks like rejected stealth technology. I think I'd respect it more if it didn't have the fanblades or chrome headlights.
azbobbybooshay10
02-29-2008, 01:04 PM
chrome headlights.
 I have 01-02 lights with the insides painted gloss black.
For the wheels, I should be getting new ones sometime in the next month. Hang in there Scully, its getting there, trust me...

idk, i was pretty much just informing people what ive been doing and done with the car since it is a cougar website and is in our wisconsin section.
"Btw, anyone know if cutting out the seatbelt harness in back will harm anything ? "the seatbelt bracket thats attached to the car by rivets it almost looks like.
bensenvill
03-03-2008, 06:11 PM
ummmm, DONT CUT OUT THE SEATBELTS.... they bolt in, if your cutting, your doing something wrong.
Crispy
03-03-2008, 06:25 PM
yah they are large torx bolts... I have an entire box full of every single seatbelt that ever came out of my Cougar.
so basically cut them if you want and later when you need replacements I can sell you the whole box of goodies. LOL

Hmm, weird, i guess im gonna have to look harder i dont see any bolts on it...
The 2 pieces that are on both sides of the car almost in the trunk.. those are really bolted on ?

The one car I have dreamed of in flat black is an 08 Mustang Shelby Supersnake with flat slightly offblack stripes, flat black rims, blacked out head and tail lights, with a dark tint, just hella stealth and tuff looking, however running 725hp, its not exactly stealth is it ahahah, def tough
