Well, how'd it go? Today I changed the oil in the Impala, did a quick wash job on the Impala (too quick - missed some spots :( ), and washed the engine of the Impala.

well still not done but we have had so many distractions and problems with the car its somewhat understandable. Radio install, little man time, part pick up, etc etc. Car should be done by tomorrow for sho. Oh by the way the contours old engine is jacked. Lets just say 80% of the bottom end of the engine is sitting in the oil pan.

Yeah... That was fun. There was so much oil in the exhaust system that the poor thing smoked for the better part of 30 minutes after we fired it.

Started with a misfire, so we re-seated the plug wires, and were good. Little buggers' contacts were pushed all up in the boot, so no contact.

Other than the motor (easy fix), the car is in fantastic shape. Interior is damn near perfect. Drives like a dream. A few wiring harness issues (broken clips over the years, some peeling wire shielding), but considering the age of the car...

negatory. Newer 2.5 was installed with SVT cams. Car runs surprisingly well. Few little things and there to fix. Props to dan for working around distractions the best he could.

So you just put a stock 2.5 in with some upgrades. I thought about doing that with the one I just brought home with the blown engine. If the rest of the car had been perfect, I probably would have.

Basically took the ol blown svt motor out, swapped the cams, tensioners, chains and some other accessories necessary to a newer 2.5l with the 3rd oil feed and viola, this bish is up and running. Car has 125k on it but the interior is money! Everything works! :) Video and pics soon.

That's one half (not the half that is supposed to separate) of a rod endcap. Look at the bolt- If looking at a rod from the front, it's suppose to separate from the endcap at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. This bad boy snapped at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions... :ugh:

How in the world do you get that to happen?
