A few of you know, but I would like to share with you all here my terrible loss.
A Truly Great Friend of mine, Dave Sheehan (31 years old), passed away Saturday night while he was sleeping. Apparently he had a massive seizure, and his fiancée was in another part of the house, and found him about an hour after it happened.:(
Dave was like an Older Brother to me, and I had known him for 6 years. We worked together for most of those 6 years, and we recently had a running game of 5-card draw that started Thanksgiving night 2005!! We talked about everything and anything, went to a Celtics game in Dec 07 (thanks to Sami :) ) and we were talking about going to the Bulls vs. Celtics game that was coming up soon.
Thank you for letting me post this, as i needed to actually write down some of my thoughts... My head is still spinning, and my emotions cannot be sorted right now. As Always, thanks for NECO for the support! You are my extended family ;)

Thank you everyone. Your sympathies are very much appreciated. ;)
And Dave was the Healthiest person I have ever met. He was in better shape than most College students I know! Just a freak thing, and unfortunately no one was able to help him in time...
again, thanks, and I have the wake tomorrow, and funeral on Thursday, so i may or may not be answering phone calls, or e-mails/ PMs for the next few days...
As for this Sunday, I might have a little get together if some of you would like to come over and hang out. I'm not sure yet, but its a good possibility.
It would be nice to hang out with you guys and get my spirits up after this week! :)
TTYS,
Greg ;)

ugh this is NOT something I need to be hearing right now.
The last couple months of 2007, I had some strange anxieties about death. I kept fearing I was going to die in my sleep from a blood clot in my lung or something. I don't know why it came about, but it was rough.
It's taken the past couple months to finally clear those thoughts from my head and then BANG stories like this come about and scare the crap outta me again. :(
sorry, I didn't mean to change the focus of the thread. It's just so freaky how life can be like that sometimes. Perfectly healthy people dying in their sleep! Scares the bajeesus outta me. :(

Believe me, Kim, I know what you mean! EVERYONE at work is just stunned about this, and no one wants to beleive it!!!
Went to the wake tonight, and it was great having my wife and friends around to support me... it was so hard to deal with! I'm going to miss him SO much. I went into work Tuesday night and everytime I took my break, I couldn't look across the table I usually sit at, because i kept picturing him there :( Its gonna take some more time, but at least I meet his family tonight, and said my official "good-bye" to him...
Tomorrow is the funeral and burial services, and i plan on spending most of the day with friends so we can support each other. I went out for beers and dinner at an Irish bar tonight, and had some great laughs. I really needed that!
Thanks again for all the kind thoughts everyone, and i wil start another thread for Sunday, as it looks like this little get-together can happen :)

not to take anything away from this thread but I came into work to an email that was sent out saying that a guy that I had worked with before was killed tuesday in a snowmobil acciedent. Not that I knew him that well but even after a year since I worked with him he still remembered who I was and would say hi to me every time I passed him in the hallways of the building .... he was a great person from what little I knew of him, talk about a big shame also ...

Wow, I am truly sorry Greg. I didn't see this post until now. I know how hard it is to lose a good friend. Time can slowly heal the sadness, however, I think that you are right that being around friends, having laughs, and sharing good memories are the best medicine. I know there is'nt any right thing to say. It is good to see that you are handling this loss as best you can, and the best thing you can do for a friend that has passed is keep your memories of them alive, and recognize the influence that they have had on your life. Really great friends seem to rub off a little on each other, and even share certain traits. That is how someone can live on after they have passed. Our thoughts are with you, his other friends, and his family. I am sure someone that you would hold in such a great regard was a very special person.
