Ok, the time for our first meet of 2008 draws near!

February 16th
Rockingham Dragway (website (http://www.rockinghamdragway.com/))

Drag strip opens at 12pm to 5pm for test n tune / street drags. Hopefully it wont rain prior to or on the 16th.

Show up around noon and we'll grab lunch shortly thereafter at a nearby restaurant (TBD), head back to the strip, and if there is enough participation, finish with a cruise through the area and maybe dinner or a few drinks.

Its still pretty chilly in NC to have an outdoors mod meet, so I think this would be a good way to start off the new year, meet as many of the newer members as possible, and have some fun with our cars. If memory serves me, it wasn't too expensive to run the Rock, so all in all this meet should be fairly easy on the wallet.

So how 'bout it?

Sounds good... but:

205 mi – about 3 hours 59 mins

28608 to 28363

8 hours travel is just too much...

EDIT- High Rock Raceway - The Track (http://www.racehighrock.com/)

That is even more central... maybe this fall!

That looks freakin' sweet! Charlotte is close to 6 hours away for me, but that looks worth it!

Rockingham is a 4+ hour drive each way for me too though. Its really not that bad.

If I was hitting the strip, but still... that's basically 2 tanks of gas... I'm in Winston all summer, so I'll just have to hold off until then.

I'd go if the z didnt run like ass currently n i wont going to a friend of mines concert in greensboro that sunday there band is playing along with a bunch other good local bands. And iirc to run on the track is like 10 or 15 bucks i think.

i might see about heading up that way- but i'll more than likely leave the Cougar home and bring the Volvo... The Cougar likes to leave me stranded only when i'm more than 100 miles from home.

XplosivePlushToy

Awesome.

The more the merrier! Though, after experiencing my first day back here, I'm going to have to dispute the coat and cap statement.

It was f**king hot!

I don't know if I'm going. I've got two big trips this year....One being cougarfest and the other is to meet the guys from PRoN at B4D:biggrin:

XplosivePlushToy
02-08-2008, 12:08 PM
I'm trying to drag along some of the people I know back here, which would bring a couple DSM's, a Trans Am, and a Boxster. Not sure how many are going to be able to make it though. Both of the DSM's are not currently running (surprising?) and the other guys might be on leave. We'll see.

Scythe

Boxster.........the ford taurus of the porsche world

Id be there but the z is currently down undergoing some much needed TLC and parting out. selling the turbo kit and the car and moving on to something else.

contrapaul
02-10-2008, 03:45 PM
At least the Boxster looks like a Porsche. Been around a while too, unlike the lame Cayenne.

@Scythe, what's next? Why parting ways with the Z?

It is in my deepest regrets to inform you all, that I, BUckY19, will not be attending this meet...but me and the mrs. will be looking at getting a cougar instead...lol...which will be going to Fest, along with mine, if we get it...

Maybe if there is a meet before Fest I will tag along...

A Boxster:ugh: Someone needs to buy a real Porsche:rofl:

He's actually getting rid of it and getting a 911, IIRC. I dont know how the hell he can afford that being just a Cpl and married in the USMC.

@Scythe, what's next? Why parting ways with the Z?

cause i found a great deal on another z. an 05 yellow 35th anniversary edition leather, navigation, brembos all stock and then it has some rather nice upgrades that makes my current 350z look like a child's play thing.

you should talk him into getting a GTR.

XplosivePlushToy
02-14-2008, 11:15 PM
Because that's affordable on an E-4's budget...

I can't wait to hit the track this weekend. I have a bunch of new toys that need to be tested out. If I can hit a 13.5 or lower I'll be happy.

XplosivePlushToy
02-15-2008, 09:11 AM
Ok. Last minute change of plans. I'm not going to the Rock unfortunately. I was just hit with a last minute invite to go to FL with a good friend of mine, and I really cant turn this down seeing as I'm not taking leave after getting back from Iraq.

Sorry guys. Maybe next time, eh?

MagicHallucinations
02-15-2008, 09:48 AM
Yeah, I'm heading to a dyno day down in Charlotte @ 3SX Performance. I want to get some numbers before the new injectors and retune. 50 bucks for 3 pulls w/a wideband.

AndyMan
02-15-2008, 10:51 AM
alrighty then...
Lets try to post poem this meet then.

Since Bryce was going to bring a few people with him and now things got changed, i'd say he hold off just a bit longer...
everyone cool with that??

Plus i got hit with a full Honors funeral for tommarow in the morning.. :(

dalaster88
02-15-2008, 01:40 PM
Argh... Ok, I was ready to go, but i also have struts to put on Sat morn and bball practice at 2... so whats the next plans?

BUckY19
02-16-2008, 12:17 AM
A funeral Andy?!? Sorry to hear that...I, and the mrs., can't make it, unfortunately, since the mrs. owns a cavalier (we dont own the other cougar yet) shed want to drive that (with all its hearts and flames) and i dont feel like getting crap for that (ask Bryce about it) even though I'm going to anyway, so if there is a meet before cougar fest (AND YES COUGARFEST IS A GO NO MATTER WHAT!!!) than I'd go...whether she likes it or not...lol:rofl:

Can you take that Ford Taurus comment back please? It hurt me that you would compare a slow expensive car with a fast cheap car.

The Boxster is faster than the Sho. Not even a contest really. Just saying.

KUGAKRAZY
02-16-2008, 12:32 PM
Not much, 1/2 second on the 0-60 time and 3/4 second on the 1/4 mile. Stock for stock , yes its faster, but not faster than the one pictured in my last post.

I'm gonna scan in the dyno sheet tomorrow but with no fuel, mild tune, and only 14psi it still put down 277awhp:rofl: The turbo is built for 30-35psi so it's a little bored right now. I shot a lot lower and caught hell from a buddy of mine, who guess right:flushed: We also added in the 25% drivetrain loss and it's got some pretty good numbers at the crank(346hp). Which is actually a lot more than I thought at this point.

I didn't change my plugs before I went and was told that it could have been a little higher. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. Anyone have an opinion on that??

The AFR's were 10/10.5 but at 5500 it shot up to 12.5:eek: It did that in 1000rpms. So needless to say, I need fuel. Injectors have been cut and are getting sent off tomorrow. Then a real tune......

Overall, I was surprised and thought it was well worth the 50 bucks. I can't wait until the next one:biggrin:

Here we go......check out that nasty fuel curve:flushed::rofl: The injectors are ready to be sent off. Should be a week or two.

My 1st dyno though....very interesting experience:thumbsup:

No, it's not. It's basically starving which is why it's not making any power. Though, like I said, the power it did make was more than I thought. I thought it was going to be like 240-250:rofl:

I don't run it hard.....I work about 2-4min from my house. So it hardly ever sees any boost. I drive like a grandma as well:flushed:

It's probably time to tune mine as well, cause after a week or two im starting to get the black rear bumper effect.

EDIT: By the way you still have, i think his name is brandon, Skyline??

I wish I had Brandon's.....his is the GTR, lol. But Jason's GTS is at the house. We think the turbo might be shot. We're gonna take some things apart here shortly:(

actually i do funerals on a weekly basis... atleast 2-3 weekly,.. Full honors funerals are the hardest to put together cause they require so many marines...

So i thinking March time frame... should be a tad bit warmer too

BUckY19
02-21-2008, 03:41 PM
I could do March...seeming that I will be out of the Marine Corps in that time frame...which means a lot more time with the cougar...

02-22-2008, 12:30 PM
A Marine Corps meet?!? If that were to happen, you could count me out...lol...but serisouly I'm down for a meet before CF...and by the looks of it...all these "meets" are going to be like this..."...I can't make it this time...lets set one up for this date..." and before you know it, it'll be time for CougarFest...lol
