So there she is... my pride and joy. Well actually, that's not mine - I have no digital camera, but that's exactly what she looks like (minus the fog light punchouts)

I'm about to buy seats and redo the interior and I gotta know what I should do. I'm not looking to repaint the car, cause I like the color a lot! I have a few choices, but obviously blue and red are the easiest colors to find.

Let me know what you think!:facepalm:

Stock.

Or pay a PROFESSIONAL bodyshop to color match some of your interior pieces to the outside.

stock? lol, what? I don't have the money to have a professional colormatch, kinda a poor college student

Then yes stock, because if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Otherwise it's going to look like ass and turn your nice, stock, clean Cougar into a riced out POS.

even changing the headliner is a pain, and takes a couple people to compleate

The exact same color that is outside. My eyes kind of hurt, and I can't tell if its gray or green, but keep it tan/gray/stock inside.

Well im at least in need of new seats for my car, can ya help me out there as far as color goes? I'll worry about the painting for later

hey not trying to be a d*ck. but just do some searching on your own, check out the for sale section

Stay away from all those colors you had listed.

I would suggest putting some rims and tires on it. Maybe some clear side markers too. And some springs. That would make the car look alot better. possibly even ride better depending on what you get. I think there's no reason to swap out the seats in a stock car. The cougar seats are comfortable IMO.

@ Saleen Cougar, I've been here for quite some time - I had another name before this, I just forgot it after a break here

I've also posted in the WTB section and have browsed the FS and bought some parts that I did need, no rear seats are listed for sale yet!

@ Rodney

I love the Cougars seats, one of the more comfortable cars I've ridden in. The problem was that I spilled something back there and never cleaned it up. The foam molded and rotted away and essentially my rear seats are absolutely disgusting.

I've found some local places with new rear seats. I'm now stuck on buying some new racing ones for the front as I really like the look of 'em.

I'd do silver, gray or black.

BTW, are you in WA? Or just a fan?

i vote pro or no go! instead of paint get CF, or black leather. but like you say, limited budget, so i vote no go.

i would go with some carbon fiber. if you need new seats get some leather stock ones or some wrapped by catskinz(or however you spell it), but if not just do some exterior mods as stated above

megail

two tone suede. light gray and a darker gray. or almost a tan and a gray.
that look stellar

From one spruce green owner to another...

Leave it alone.

The colors you have listed will cheapen the look of your car. Something you don't want to do.

I have my dash pieces painted spruce green and you can barely tell it's been painted. Although I used professional paints and did it myself.

madcustomz

if anything carbon fiber. i dont think blue or red would look good with spruce green

Goldie

go Cougs! (WSC that is = assuming you are going to school there, check out the NW chapter section).
and Im confussed. Seems people have commented on painting the interior, but I read your orig post to say you were changing out the seats and looking for seat color choices. right?
either way, my suggestion would be NOT to do red, green or blue on a spruce green car. If you are looking for aftermarket generic racing seats to drop in, I'd go with black. if you are going to do custom seat covers (katzkin or similar), you can come up with a color pretty close to spruce green - or a tan/grey/sprucy kinda combination like megail mentioned.

Wade's right... and you're not listening ;)

If you are poor college student, the last thing you should be doing, is frivolously spending money on modifying your car. :)

The other thing is, as people have said... if you don't have the necessary money, there are a lot of things that can go horribly wrong - and that list almost BEGINS with paint! (Audio systems are a close second  )

Save your money... once you can afford the professionally done painted dash, it will be worth EVERY minute you had to spend 'stock'

i put 01 02 stock black dash peices in place of the gray for an all black look and i like it very much. i'll see if i can't get pics

ugh, lol I don't know if I said this before. I know how to paint my interior and everything. I have a spray gun and before working on my car I designed and modified computers (before PC modding became "mainstream" and everyone chucked fans and called it skills).

However, you guys have I guess... convinced me? What my current plans are is to clean up the interior. I'm going to go pick up these rear leather seats that unfortunately have red in the center, then I'm going to dye the red back to black. After that I plan on picking up two sparco front seats in black leather - I just have to find ones I really like.

My car has about 100,000 miles on it, so I'm not going to be keeping it forever so I'm probably not chucking a lot of money into it

I'm happy w/ my sound system :) and just need new seats (i never liked the old ones) and i'm guessing I'll leave it at that for now.

ND4SPD
01-31-2008, 10:47 AM
ooh! Not to put down another one of your plans  but, be careful when dying the seats... I don't think anyone in the 7 years I've been here, has been successful in dying leather seats.
I've seen people even use SEM products that guarantee against cracking, etc... but still didn't work.
You might end up spending money for the original seats, then money to dye them, money to try and fix them if anything goes wrong, and then might NOT be able to get money from selling them.

It might just be better to save up for your ultimate goal of the leather Sparcos. :)

he;s just looking at dying the inserts in the back seats - idk, if I were him, I'd probably try it out too. not like the back seat gets any wear (or sun on it) that might lead to the dye not holding up well.

ND4SPD
01-31-2008, 12:05 PM
Well, thats true... I just remember the horrors of Pierre (puckpuck) dying his seats. Within months (maybe weeks?) they had cracks all over them. The dye 'stuck' great, and didn't flake off, but I guess it didn't soak in enough maybe.

Alkatraz
01-31-2008, 03:10 PM
why spend money on something that isn't what you want..... just buy seats you dont have to dye and save a headache

the problem here is I can't FIND the rear back leather seats in all black! It's impossible! I've searched forms, ebay, and local junkyards all over around here. No one has black leather seats. I've found the red inserts, but I don't want them looking like in two months.

They're out there. You need them out of a C2 model. Try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market (http://www.car-part.com) and watch ebay.

Well wade, thanks for that wetdream i just had.

Those are the EXACT seats I'm looking for! Unfortunately, no one around me has them. Next tuesday I'm doing some more junkyard runs and hopefully come up w/ something.

What do you guys think about putting in the red leather seats? It's spruce green but I think the red insert leather seats would actually look really good against it.
