Hello all, i have a bit of extra cash in the bank and im looking into buying this intake, Street Racing, BMW Performance Parts, HONDA Performance Parts, Auto Parts - COSMO Racing Online (http://cosmoracing.com/productinfo.asp?cid=145&pid=1322) i was just wondering if it is possible to use different cone filters on these kids of intakes. i have never had one and i was just wondering if i can use filters from the local auto store or do i have to order them?
thanks guys.

Should be fine. Just buy the right sized diameter for the filter to the piping.

thats the one i got, make sure to ask them for instructions, it comes with flat brackets and no instructions on how to mount them, i had to bend one at a 90 degree angle to get it to fit the way i wanted. Also the elbow that goes from the throttle body to the intake doesn't quite fit right, the elbow is to large diameter to fit the TB and the angle doesn't quite put the pipe where i wanted, i ended up fooling around and using an o-ring around the tb to space it and just fooling around to make it fit right.
also theres an extra hole not in the picture that i had to plug, and the vent tube is difficult to fit.
overall it took me about an hour and a half
ask if they have instructions when you order.
and you will need a special torx bit to remove the MAF they are tamperproof screws (little bar in the middle) or a good dremel and a steady hand.

y not go to autozone and get a new 90* elbow instead of screwing w/ that one?

I probably will one day, its holding solid right now tho not loose or anything i wanna get a better filter for it one day too and some actual fittings so the vent hose fits better
When I did it one of those on my ztec focus YEARS ago, I had a similar elbow. I used the larger end on the throttle body. To get the other end to fit over the intake tube, I heated the elbow up in the oven so it would stretch over the intake tube. Looked a lot nicer than the ghetto rig you have there, although I applaud your ingenuity.
If you're nervous about not being able to figure it out, Just post a thread in your chapter asking for help. Us moders are always itching to tinker and I'm sure it'd be a good enough excuse to throw a meet in you honor.
