Hey guys, I went into KVR Performance today which is located in Ottawa and got some info on "Group Buy" prices for rotors and pads. I just wanted to see if anyone here in CANADA would be interrested in picking up some new brakes. The prices I received was based on how many sets of rotors we buy. If we buy 5 sets, the price will be $290+tax, and if we can get 10 sets, the price will be $275. These prices are for.....2x 278mm Front Rotors, and 2x 260mm Rear Rotors. If you need another size I can get a price for you. Also included in the price is Cadmium Plating, and your choice of surface treatment (cross drilled, slotted, or j hook). A rough price for the KVR carbon fibre pads is $75 per car. KVR also sells the GOODRIDGE SS brake lines but I forgot to get a price on them. I took a look at the silver and black plated cross drilled rotors at the shop and they looked amazing! Let me know what you guys think, if you just need fronts or backs or anything else. If anyone form the US reads this and wants in, we can work something out but expect your shippment to take awile to arrive. Here is KVR's website KVR Performance Brakes (http://kvrperformance.com/)

I think most people who want these would like to wait a couple more months til spring rolls around and the stored cougar's hit the streets again. I'm sure KVR would be willing to do this "GB" later on in May/April ish'. I just need to know if there will be enough people in on this inorder to get the group pricing.

OK, well we have a couple months so hopefully more members will be interrested when it's time to order.:)Apparently ND4SPD's car never leaves his house so I can cross him off the list.

I would be interested and am sure if the parts are handed off to someone in canada I could get someone to deliver them across the boarder and go pick them up. I don't want to buy cheap ass ebay cross drilled and slotted rotors mine are absolute crap after about 25-30k miles.

The rotors are made by baer, then KVR does all the drilling, painting and plating themselves. I also want to stay away from the cheap ebay rotors. I may be going to cougarfest this year so I guess I could bring rotors down then.

I think Hamill, or was it Maya? has (or had) their brakes with the C/F pads, and they squealed like a pig! :-/
Its interesting that you were able to walk in there and get ANY reasonable information from them!
I walked in 2 years ago looking for brakes, and they offered me either basic OEM style everything, or..................get this..... $4000 corvette brakes!
I wasn't too thrilled with the employees... maybe they've changed. lol.

I kinda know one of the guys who works there, he used to be work at Final Lap. I got the prices from "Terry" who seemed to really know his stuff. I've been to KVR a couple times now and am pleased with the service I've recieved. I've had nothing but bad experiences with a couple of the other local performance shops. About the squelling, Terry said he could also hook us up with other brands of pads.

Not to thread crap, but in my experience, KVR stuff is absolute ****e, and overpriced. Their rotors are known to warp quickly by many that have had them. Personally, I would look around for something else.

I kinda have to agree here. Back when I had my first Cougar, I had a set of rotors warp on me in 6 months! When I attempted to get them replaced under some kind of warranty, they DID help me out... but it wasn't free. They simply gave me a discount.
I'd have to think long and hard before I go with another set of cross-drilled rotors. If anything, i'll go with a set of OEM style 'blank' rotors. I haven't met a set of cross-drilled rotors that I like... including the ones on the 3L.

I gotta admit, the brembo OEM rotors that were cross drilled and slotted by another company that I have are awesome. No squeeling, limited brake dust, and I got them for under $200.

How are they on the pads?
I found with my Cross-drilled rotors, they ate away at the pads pretty quick, like slotted rotors are also known for doing.

Care to share what that other Company is?

Wish I knew....I got them in a group buy a few years ago...Tronic did it and I was lucky enough to get my parts thanks to Sami.
As for Pad life...the pads aren't wearing as bad as my KVR's did. My driving habits have changed and I don't go to the track as much, so it's difficult to give a decent comparison.
The major difference I notice with slotted/drilled isn't so much the heating/cooling aspect, but braking in the rain.

do they perform better or worse in the rain?
hamill

all the cross drilled rotors I've had braked better in the rain.
EDIT: I have to admit, I would seriously consider getting in on this group buy if I needed rotors. Once question I would like to pose is what type of guarentee that KVR would have that the rotors were not warped or damaged during shipment. I know I also had a set of KVR's that came warped IN THE BOX!

Sounds to me now that these rotors are overpriced and not as good as they are supposed to be... I definently don't want my brakes to squell or warp as Hamil said...
