Wow oh wow its been a while since i been on here surprised i remember my old account info lol. Dont know if anybody remembers me so a lil refresher used to be a 99 I4 cougar owner, then moved on to a 03 V6 tiburon. N tried to get a few meets going on here with you guys and the tib people i know a few came out to the meet i had back in sept 06 at the rock.

Whats everybody been up to? Got any cougar owners from highpoint in my area ive moved to the north end of town in the westover area near the raceway gas station. Anybody in the area running a 3L swap or boosted there I4 or V6? In addition to moving i went n picked myself up something ive wanted for a very long time i finally went out and bought myself my dream car.

No kidding about the boost addiction. I dropped my Cougar about a year ago and picked up a Solstice GXP.

NEED MOAR BOOST! I just dropped another $2500 in parts on it this month, and should be installing it all come February 8th

Then its on to a new snail and a tune.

Gorgeous Z33! We've almost finished an engine swap and auto-5spd swap on z Z31 Turbo in the garage- after that I just might get some boost for the coug... depends how addicted I get to the Z.

nice what did you swap into the z31? If you got a turbo z31 and then you decide to boost the cougar if it was me i would get a centripetal supercharger for it. cause then you got one car that has big hp potential w the turbo and another thats gonna have killer acceleration and instant power off the line with the supercharger.

A stock engine with turbo. The old one spun a rod bearing, but had high mileage. The new one is low mileage, and by summer should have 250-260 whp. If I could do a supercharger for as cheap as the turbo will be, I would. But because we will be fabricating so much, the turbo will be cheaper. And it won't be a high power setup like Fastcougar, just a decent power build.

Are you serious the turbo is the cheap route? man i wish it was that case for the z. single turbo kits range from around 4700-5000, twin turbo kits are 5400 and up with some topping out near 6.5k easy. centripetal vortech supercharger and stillen kits are all under 4.5k

What all do you have to fabricate? And what are you gonna be using as your fuel tuner i dont imagine there's a lot out there for the cougar's. if the ecu is anything like tib's its a ***** to tune other than safc and like a tuner made by one particulary company that they called a mafterburner we had NOTHING.

Yeah  I still had the temp tags on her. I think they were my fake tags by that time though :cover:

The BOV and wastegate on the car are internal on the stock turbo, and the wastegate will be on my next turbo, whenever that is. For now, I just have another exhaust system going in (out with the magnaflow, in with the solo rear center duals), new fujita i/c piping, dejon intercooler and bov spring, eibach springs, and some tweaks to the wastegate system to run a few more PSI.

be careful with those internal wastegates them things can be finicky and are prone to boost creep. if your gonna invest in a new turbo i would really really seriously consider an external wastegate setup when you do the swap. It will cost more but down the road as far a reliability stand point, a tuning stand point, and more importantly for me at least a reliability stand point. cause if your vehicle is like mine its my daily driver so its gotta be right.

All the manifolds will be fabricated, cold side piping will be pieced together, thus cheaper than a kit, etc. Its still a ways off, but I'm pretty confident in it coming about. Nautilusperformance.com has kits, so you can see what it would be if I just bought one of theirs. My kit will most likely be put together like their non-intercooled one, but with an FMIC and injectors, and a tune. However, I'll only start it at very low boost and I could put it together as a two stage kit- first would be non-intercooled stock tune stock injectors, and then upgrade later. Honestly, it all depends on how fast I get a manual in, and how much money I can scrape together this semester.

Oh, and btw:

There are no longer any supercharger kits available- although Blackcoog's kit is near completion.

whoa vortech did away with there kit? that sucks but i guess its to be expected with something with such a low market to start with and a car that hasnt been made in going on 6yrs its just not cost effective. what are you gonna use to tune it?

I haven't delved that far into research... but I've been talking to a few other turbo members and getting some great input. When I begin buying parts is when I'll kick it into high gear.

Have we?? I'm not sure, lol. If I did I certainly didn't know you were on here!

Harry has new rims now....Rota's. His motor blew though and waiting on a rebuild. Gonna be quite scary with internals:biggrin:

You're working until 6? The meet doesn't start until 8;) It's at the backyard burger on Battleground ave. It's from 8 to whenever you feel like leaving.
